A 1.6 million square-foot project in the South End wins key approvalThe $1 billion development known as the “Exchange South End” received approval from the Boston Planning & Development Agency last week to build on the former site of the Boston Flower Exchange in the South End.
The development, which sits on more than 5 acres of land, will eventually be home to four new buildings that will sit between I-93 and Albany Street. When finished the new development is expected to have an estimated 7.000 technology and life science jobs.
According to this Curbed Boston article The Exchange will include:
Earlier this summer I wrote a post about HUBweek, which will take place this year from October 8-14. The annual fall festival celebrates innovation in art, science and technology when it takes over Boston’s City Hall Plaza later this year. Michael Bloomberg, Malcolm Gladwell, Deepak Chopra and Atul Gawande were previously announced as speakers at this year’s event. Earlier this week HUBweek organizers said NY Times columnist Maureen Dowd and Parkland shooting survivor, David Hogg will also be coming to speak at the festival.
Dowd will take part in HUBweek Forums, discussing how the future will look in terms of everything from cities to health and medicine and Hogg, a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and a co-founder of March for Our Lives, will be part of a HUBweek forum in Faneuil Hall on “the successes and challenges of the nationwide student-led movement to end gun violence”.
Many pf the events during HUBweek are free but they do fill up. Learn more here: hubweek.org

For those of you who missed Carnival or for those of you who were there and wishing the fun week was not over, here is a beautiful video courtesy of David Cox who’s videos never disappoint.
Next year’s 41st Provincetown Carnival will start on August 15 and conclude on August 25th with the parade on Thursday, August 22, 2019. The theme will be Enchanted Forest.
ADAM & ANDY is set in the fictional New England town of Woodfield, CT. You can learn more about this strip by visiting, adamandandy.com.
The creator of Adam & Andy posted a series of comic strips this week focused on Dillon – a young guy with a somewhat troubled past who recently has found solace at Adam & Andy’s and who also recently started dating their nephew.
Today is the last full day of 2018 Carnival. Although the weather started stormy it corrected itself and each day was a little more beautiful. For those leaving on the Saturday morning ferries, have an amazing time tonight with your friends.
Below are photos taken during Ptown’s annual Carnival Parade
Much thanks to my friend, Kyle Szary, who does a great job photographing the parade and the masses strolling up and down Commercial Street.

Group costumes are always popular at Carnival

But you needn’t be in a group to make a statement at Carnival

Chris Marchant makes for a tempting Aquaman

And one more photo that I swiped from Sergio’s Instagram feed. Miss Bubble Wrap was one of my favorite floats from this year’s Carnival Parade.
Next year’s 41st Provincetown Carnival will start on August 15 and conclude on August 25th with the parade on Thursday, August 22, 2019, and the theme will be Enchanted Forest so I fully expect to see all sorts of frisky woodland creatures and more than a few unicorns.
