Flashback Friday

Flashback FridayFor many years Washington Street in Boston’s South End had an elevated Orange Line that was loud and cast long shadows over this busy boulevard that connects Roxbury to downtown Boston.  Over the past 20+ years, Boston’s South End has undergone a renaissance of sorts.  Gone is the elevated Orange Line and boarded up buildings that have been replaced by new apartment buildings, restaurants and cafes.

Back in 2009 I also  wrote about this stretch of the South End in my Flashback series entitled, Elevated Orange Line.

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaserEach Friday morning I post a riddle to try to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.

If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and try to figure it out together.  I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:

A blue house is made of blue bricks. A yellow house is made of yellow bricks. A red house is made of red bricks. An orange house is made of orange bricks. What would a green house be made of?

Like riddles? Check out past week’s brain teasers.

Jello FML Twitter campaign

Matt MicariLooking to insert some fun into everyone’s life, Jello has developed a rather creative campaign on Twitter to take the self-pitying three lettered acronym, FML and turn it into a less explicit more positive meaning:  Fun My Life.   Annoying or humorous, it is getting attention from the media and poking fun at some Twitter users who are unaware of the FML campaign.  If you are on Twitter, check the hashtag #FML and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

I can think of nobody who better injects fun into Jello than my friend Matt Micari (shown above) who was featured in a Boston Globe article a couple of years ago.  To see how much fun Jello really can be, check out his site Gelology.

Landslide interpretive dance

Landslide Interpretive DanceWho hasn’t danced around in their underwear to a favorite song in their bedroom?  While I’ve never videotaped myself doing this, I’m probably in the minority, considering people’s fascination with seeing themselves on film.

This guy does a good job mirroring himself a decade later.  While it is a bit strange at the start, I couldn’t help but chuckle watching this.  Provided a guy dancing in underwear won’t raise eyebrows, it is fine to watch in your office.  Enjoy.
