2020 North American gay ski week calendar
Each January I write about the various ski weeks and weekends that are organized here in New England and North America.
With the holidays now a thing of the past and many weeks of winter weather still ahead of us, I try to take the attitude of “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” by sharing a handful of gay ski celebrations as the circuit moves from the beaches to the slopes. I also like to use this post to give a shout out to OutRyders – New England’s largest gay ski club.
Aspen Gay Ski Week: January 12-19, 2020 This week long celebration is the biggest and oldest of its kind starting back in 1977 and having grown significantly over the years.
Winter Rendezvous at Stowe, VT: January 22-26, 2020 This is New England’s largest (and longest running) gay ski week. Boston’s gay ski club, OutRyders (mentioned above) will help members organize and logistics.
Elevation Tremblant Gay Ski Week: January 30 – February 2, 2020 located in Quebec this is a great option for guys from the Northeast. Last year was the first time Elevation came East so it should be interesting to see how they build upon last year’s successful event.
Whistler Pride & Ski Festival: January 26 – February 2, 2020 This annual tradition which started in 1992 offers plenty to do and if you are coming from the US at a nice price break with the favorable exchange rate.
WOW weekend at Sunday River, ME: February 6-9, 2020 The Welcoming Committee’s mini takeover of the Sunday River Resort has grown in recent years. This year Boston’s OutRyders are an official sponsor of the event.
Elevation Utah Gay Ski Week at Park City: Feb 26 – March 1, 2020
While Utah isn’t exactly known as the most gay friendly place in America, this will be the 9th anniversary and continues to grow in popularity.
Elevation Mammoth Gay Ski Week: March 18-22, 2020 The Elevation Ski Week brand started here at Mammoth Mountain and attracts mostly a west coast crowd.
Big Gay Jay Weekend at Jay’s Peak, VT: March 20-23, 2020 This weekend trip to southern Vermont is organized for and by New England’s gay ski club The OutRyders.

Vintage gay
Back in March of 2016 I posted this photo, here. Since then these weekly “vintage gay” blog posts have grown in popularity, which is in part why this week’s post is my 199th Vintage Gay blog post. I hope you continue to enjoy reading these posts – they are a personal favorite of mine.

I have been suggesting different Instagram accounts to follow since January 4, 2017 (I had to double check that because I couldn’t actually recall). The first account I ever featured was of my friend Devon Westcom goofing around, and since then I’ve gone on to feature other friends, travel and food accounts as well as straight up ‘man candy’ accounts – which unsurprisingly always seem to garner the most views, likes and comments.
With the start of a new year, I thought I’d feature my account. It’s nothing special but brings me a lot of happiness as I look through photos taken of places I’ve visited, friends and family. Feel free to follow if you’re not already.

New Years in Sao Paulo

Each Monday I share a weekly post of events, activities and parties that will happen in Boston, but Sergio and I are wrapping up a month-long vacation in South America and this weekly post is temporarily on hold until we return.

Feliz Ano Novo!
Chasing summer
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Sergio and I left Boston to spend one month chasing summer in South America. During the visit we were able to travel to Mendoza, Cordoba and Buenos Aires, Argentina, Colonia del Sacramento and Punte del Este, Uruguay before going on to Brazil for approximately 10 days.
For the past week we have been in Sergio’s hometown, Belo Horizonte, Brazil to celebrate Christmas with Sergio’s family. Yesterday, we flew to Sao Paulo. We will celebrate the New Year with friends and a few bottles of Champagne then fly to chilly Boston. I know that many people struggle with geography so I pulled together this homemade map below to show you on a map where we traveled.
I can’t stress how amazing having a month to travel has been and if anyone plans to travel to any of these destinations reach out to me for suggestions. I’m only too happy to share what we did and to make recommendations.
Once I am back in Boston and all caught up, I will resume my regular Monday morning posts which share what is happening in Boston for the week.
Scruffy Sunday
This is the last Scruffy Sunday of 2019 so I thought I’d feature one of my more popular posts from this year. I wish I knew more about this handsome guy but all I can tell you is that I featured this guy back in May. If anyone knows anything about this guy please do share.
