Boston gay kickball spring registration now open
Boston Gay Kickball league’s Spring registration opened last week for both Division A and B (Division A is more competitive and Division B is more social), but both are guaranteed fun ways to meet people.
Early Bird registration ends Monday, February 25th and after that pricing increases $10 to $85.000 per player plus a small administrative processing fee. You can either join on your own or recruit an entire team – everyone is welcome.
The spring gay kickball season starts on April 21st and runs for seven weeks, concluding June 30th with 50-minute games held every Sunday at Moakley Field in “Gay-chester” a.k.a. Dorchester. The league can only accommodate 16 teams so register quickly because this fills up.

Kiss 108FM Matty in the Morning
Anyone who has grown up in Boston knows Matty in the Morning. He has been broadcasting the morning show from Kiss 108 for 38 years and remains the most popular morning radio show in part because of his wicked sense of humor.
When news broke yesterday that 77 year old New England Patriots owner, Bob Kraft, was being charged with soliciting prostitution in Jupiter, FL, Matt Siegel (a.k.a. Matty in the morning) drove up to the spa that fronted for the prostitution ring to snap this hilarious photo. It appears that not only RPDR contestants are great at throwing shade. If you check out the post on his IG account, be sure to read through the comments – some of them are hilarious.

All hail Madonna: GLAAD recipient of Advocate for Change
I’ve always loved Madonna, but her appeal was in part because she was a lot more than just a pop singer. She was an anomaly; an outspoken, vulgar woman who thrived on the hypocrisy of the 80s and a champion the LGBTQ community far before it was trendy to wear a red ribbon at award ceremonies.
So I’m happy Madonna will be presented with the Advocate for Change Award at the 2019 GLAAD Media Awards in NYC this May. The inaugural Advocate for Change Award was given to former President Bill Clinton in 2013. Madonna will become only the second person to receive the honor, which is given only to those who “changed the game for LGBTQ people around the world” through their work, and I couldn’t agree more with GLAAD for acknowledging her.
Vintage gay
This week’s photo comes from the Facebook collection of vintage photos from David Torguella (a.k.a. Lady Torguella), that long-time reader Bob Lowe turned me on to. Thanks Bob!
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Elliott Clark is a NYC-based mixologist who shares one tempting cocktail after another on his Instagram account like the image above of him serving his Biscoff Cookies Old Fashioned. It probably doesn’t hurt that I find him terribly handsome, but I’ll let you decide for yourself. Check out the Instagram account and see if his enticing concoctions inspire you to make your own cocktail. You can also check out Elliott’s website, apartmentbartender.com.
