Devotion by Robert Frost

devotion

Devotion

The heart can think of no devotion
Greater than being shore to ocean –
Holding the curve of one position,
Counting an endless repetition.

Devotion was written by American Poet, Robert Frost, and first published in 1928. I love the simplicity of this poem and the imagery he evokes to describe such a personal and intimate concept.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:

I have many keys but cannot open a single lock, who or what am I?

Instant coffee recall due to viagra-like effect

handsome guy, man drinking coffeeChalk this up to news you can’t use but just too damn funny for me to overlook. Last week NPR reported that the North Texas company, Bestherbs Coffee LLC, is voluntarily recalling their product from grocery stores after the FDA discovered their instant coffee contained a similar ingredient found in Viagra that could potentially give men spontaneous, hours-long erections.

For more information about the recall visit the FDA page here.

Gay for Good Boston volunteering opportunities

I routinely publish volunteering opportunities from the Boston Chapter of Gay for Good. but recently realized it had been several months since I last gave this group a shout out.  G4G, as I like to refer to them, may be the perfect option for you if you’re looking to meet people or would like to volunteer but cannot commit to a particular charity. Each month, Gay For Good Boston selects a different non-profit to donate time for a community service project and they arrange all the logistics. There is no money required and anyone willing to give their time and energy are welcome, but note that most opportunities fill quickly.

Save the date for these upcoming volunteering projects by G4G:

  • Monday, August 21 – Boston Living Center
  • Saturday, September 9 – Emerald Necklace
  • Saturday, September 16 – Boston Harbor Islands
  • Saturday, October 14 – Boston Harbor Islands

If this sounds like a group you would like to learn more about, I encourage you to link here to join the organization. You will receive regular notifications about upcoming volunteering opportunities.
