About 3 weeks ago I wrote that The Alternative Art Space Gallery would be partnering with Boston Pride to host a special exhibit, Solidarity Through Pride, that will open on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
The exhibit is intended to showcase LGBT artists but if you would like to participate I want to remind you that the deadline for submission is fast approaching. All entries must be submitted by Monday, April 25.
The exhibit will be hosted at the Alternative Art Space Gallery in the South End June 2 – 17, 2016. All 2D media will be considered and there is no entry fee for submissions. For more information go to alternativeartspace.net/call-for-art.

Despite significant progress there has been an ugly backlash directed at the LGBT community over the past year. The #NOH8Worldwid movement returns to W Boston on Saturday, April 23rd from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Based on past experience, plan on arriving early as this shoot always attracts a large crowd.

Kava Neo Taverna is a neighborhood Greek restaurant that is patiently waiting for the city to allow it to open in their new home located on the corner of Union Park and Shawmut Avenue in the South End across from the South End Buttery.
Over the past couple months I have been able to meet and talk to the team behind this new restaurant, that I will admit I’m excited to have opening. They were gracious enough to send me a few photos of some of the items you can expect to find on their menu when they open. Think of this as a feast for your eyes and something to tempt you until they open.

Small Plate Options: Patates Lemonates (potatoes, lemon, oregano and olive oil);
Elies (olives, olive oil and oregano);
Spanakopita (spinach pie)
Although I don’t believe the above photo is of David or Brian, I would encourage you to read the love letter penned by Brian to David that accompanied this photo on hypervocal.com. The letter was first published by the pro gay magazine ONE in 1961. Read Brian’s love letter here.

I like to think of my blog as an important, educational site that can help you expand your vocabulary. Today’s vocabulary word is verklempt.
Verklempt
Originates from Yiddish אַרקלעמט or farklemt and the German word verklemmt.
Definition: choked with emotion
Used in a sentence: Oy, vey! When I saw this photo I got all verklempt.
Each Wednesday morning I post a photograph and ask readers to offer a funny caption. Hopefully the caption below inspires you to share a few of your own.
