We all know how lucky we are to live in the US. Being gay is the equivalent to a death sentence in many nations throughout the world, but especially in Africa and the Middle East. The LGBT Asylum Support Task Force is a group of dedicated volunteers who provide support for those seeking political asylum in the U.S. based on their sexual orientation or gender identity.
If you would like to get involved come to Club Cafe tonight from 6-9 for their 5th annual drag gospel fest and to learn more visit: lgbtasylum.org.
One week from today The Boston Ballet 2015-2016 season will open with the epic Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler: A Ballet by John Neumeier. In anticipation of the new season and to celebrate the beautiful aerial sculpture suspended over The Rose Kennedy Greenway by Janet Echelman last week twelve male Boston Ballet dancers created a moving pyramid from the ballet’s first movement.
You can purchase tickets to The Boston Ballet’s season opener, here.
Each October I post this poem on my blog. It is by the famous 20th century New England poet, Robert Frost, and is entitled, Nothing gold can stay.
It is obvious that Frost was inspired by the fall foliage in New England when he wrote this poem back in 1923, but this year I decided to play on the the message of the poem with my image selection.
Nature’s first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Millions of people will be wearing purple today, October 15th, on Spirit Day as a way to show that they stand against bullying and to show their support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) youth. Observed annually since 2010, individuals, schools, organizations, corporations, and public figures wear purple, which symbolizes ‘spirit’ on the rainbow flag. To learn more glaad.org/spiritday.

Are you heading to New York City this fall? You may want to check out a new play that takes place in 1950 called, Perfect Arrangement. The production includes Broadway and TV actor, Christopher J. Hanke and was written by Topher Payne.
Initially produced in Atlanta last year, Payne has brought his show to New York City to share with a larger audience. The biting comedy revolves around two U.S. State Department employees, Bob and Norma, who have been tasked with identifying sexual deviants within their ranks. The twist is that both Bob and Norma are gay, and have married each other’s partners as a carefully constructed cover. Perfect Arrangement is in previews but formally opens later this week, October 15th at The Duke on 42nd Street.
When asked if Payne thought the show would appeal to all audiences (not just the LGBT community) he responded in an interview in HuffingtonPost ,“Everybody knows what it is like to have a secret.”
You can find our more about this production by visiting the website, here.
The Orthodox Calendar which first ‘came out’ in 2012 continues to get more provocative with each passing year. Don’t be mislead by their name. The project is the brainchild of a group composed mostly of Orthodox eastern Europeans who use these provocative images to take an ironic approach to the Orthodox Church and raise awareness of homophobia; especially in the Orthodox region.
Watch the NSFW promotional video on YouTube then learn more about the project by visiting their website where they also sell all sorts of provocative items including their 2016 Orthodox Calendar, www.orthodox-calendar.com.
This week’s Temptation Tuesday is dedicated to Boston Dan. He recently reached out to me with this photo of Eliad Cohen, suggesting I feature him in an upcoming post. Little did he know I had the photo above scheduled to go live in a couple weeks. I couldn’t help moving a few posts to feature Eliad this week. I hope you all enjoy. Check out Dan’s suggestion in the link above too.
Dean Paton joined a group protesting at a gay pride parade in Chester, England earlier this month with a sign of his own that was absolutely brilliant. I saw this article in HuffingtonPost’s Gay Voices and wanted to share it with you. You can read more and watch a brief video of Paton with his sign at the parade, here.
