Imagine Van Gogh, the original immersive exhibition in Image Totale © featuring the Dutch artist’s paintings, is making its debut in the United States in Boston this December at the SoWa Power Station on Harrison Avenue in the South End. The Power Station is currently being converted into the city’s newest event venue to host creative programming and events like Imagine Van Gogh, but I’ll talk more about that at a later date.
The immersive event, which opens later this year, is a unique media exhibition of the works of Vincent Van Gogh. The program is designed to engage your senses of sight and sound by pairing the images with music of great composers like Mozart and Bach. Famous paintings like The Starry Night will be projected as large three dimensional images and shapes allowing you to explore and experience his masterpieces in all their fine detail.

This exhibit will be open in Boston for approximately eight weeks starting the week of Christmas and running through the first weeks of 2022.
American actors Kit Williamson and John Halbach who also happen to be married to each other, are probably best known for starring in the dark comedy series on Netflix called EastSiders. The video was on of several filmed back in 2019 to promote tourism in the U.K. before the pandemic.
While I’m not familiar with Kit, John or their Netflix show, I do love Edinburgh and enjoyed the video. Many years ago, I worked for a firm based there, and I had the opportunity to work and visit the city. I loved Edinburgh and would gladly return but for now this video showing the sites will have to suffice.

I saw a version of this recipe on TikTok and it inspired me to make a pasta dish with feta cheese. I’ve modified ingredients to suit my tastes and encourage you to do the same. This is really easy to pull together and a delicious vegetarian meal.
Recipe Ingredients: 1 package of pasta (I used rigatoni), 12 oz of grape tomatoes (I used “Sugar Bomb” grape tomatoes on the vine), a block of feta (1/3 to 1/2 of a pound), 1 onion (sliced thinly), 4 cloves of minced garlic (I used roasted garlic) as well as fresh parsley and basil. For additional seasonings I used extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper and dried oregano.
Start by heating water to boil the pasta and in a second pan add oil, the thinly sliced onions and chopped garlic over medium heat. Salt to season and stir until the onions soften. If the pan is too hot and the onions start to stick to the pan add a dash of stock, water or white wine and turn down the heat.
Add the pasta once the water starts to boil and in your other pan add the tomoatoes. These should cook for about 10-12 minutes so they will soften and breakdown. Stir every couple of minutes and add dried oregano and a pinch of salt and pepper. When your pasta is almost done cooking (approximately 2 minutes remaining) add the feta cheese. I chopped the cheese into large wedges and broke it up with my hands as I added it to the pan. Turn the heat on your stove down to low and stir everything together. Note that the photo above only shows approximately half of the feta that was used.
Drain your pasta and add it to the pan with the vegetables and cheese. Drizzle olive oil over the pasta, add chopped parsley (I use a lot because I love parsley) and add 5-6 medium sized basil leaves (hand torn) to the pan. Turn off the heat and stir together. It should look like the photo below when you are done.
This was really easy to make and extremely satisfying. It comes together in about 20 minutes and smells fantastic. The more cheese you add, the more creamy this will taste. I was trying to be healthy so I used the feta sparingly, but if I was making this for a dinner party I would double the amount. I guarantee you will enjoy this meal.

Another gay bar in Boston bites the dust. The space formerly occupied by the Boston Eagle is now for rent.
I started getting texts about four weeks ago that the Boston Eagle (a.k.a. “The Dirty Bird”) had closed and was for rent. After doing a little digging I was able to confirm it is for rent. The lease for the 1,400 sq. foot bar also comes with the use of a license for food, entertainment and liquor until 2:00 AM.
The Boston Eagle has been operating for more than 40 years but for more than a decade, the bar was probably best known as a last stop before heading home for the night. The bar was typically busiest between 12:30 – 2:00 AM, after which many would comment on the “sidewalk sale” that would spill out on to Tremont Street as people would forgo looking for “Mr. Right” and settle for “Mr. Right Here, Right Now”.
The bar also proved to be confusing for many out of town gay visitors since many gay bars called The Eagle, cater to the leather crowd. However, The Boston Eagle was always, first and foremost a neighborhood bar, catering to all who could weather the withering stare from Jack the bartender. I do not know what will go in here next, but I do hope that whatever its next iteration, it remains a LGBTQ-friendly space.

Boston’s Wicked Queer Film Festival will begin next month, but due to ongoing concerns related to public health and the coronavirus, the program will be hosted on xerb.tv with feature films will running from April 8th – 18th.
This year the Wicked Queer Film Festival will also partner with Emerson College (April 30 to May 2) and The Brattle Theatre (dates TBD) to show films (more details to follow). Below is a partial listing of some of the films you can expect to see at this year’s festival.
See You Then (March 2021) Directed by award-winning director, writer, producer, and editor, Mari Walker.
Cicada (January 2021) is a New York love story that toes the line between narrative and documentary with two actors reliving parts of their own experiences.

No Ordinary Man (September 2020) is an in-depth look at the life of musician and trans culture icon Billy Tipton. Complicated, beautiful and historically unrivaled, this groundbreaking film shows what is possible when a community collaborates to honor the legacy of an unlikely hero.

While I am sure organizers had hoped to bring this year’s Wicked Queer Film Festival to theaters in Boston, the advantage of a virtual festival is that anyone with access to the Internet can join. If you love queer and independent film, consider checking out this year’s Wicked Queer Film Festival.

The backdrop of the large granite blocks and rocks are reminiscent of Provincetown’s Causeway — a narrow path that starts by the Provincetown Inn and extends into the harbor ending by the dunes at Woods End.
