Men of Twitter

I’m a fan of Twitter. I love how quick and easy it is to use and connect with people. Another perk is what I’ll refer to as the “Men of Twitter” since there are so many handsome guys. Adding to their attraction is the fact they only talk in 140 characters.

Each Monday I post #MenOfTwitter profiles that catch my eye and whom I think you may enjoy following. Although I tend to shy away from headless photos to include in #MenOfTwitter, I opted to break my unspoken rule this week and include three headless hotties.

AtlantaStud Yet again another man from ATL catches my eye. You’ll enjoy his flirtatious tweets and the occasional self-pics which all speak highly of this sexy Hotlantan.

cj_corley12 Charlie Jay is a provocative guy from Michigan. This bilingual dancer (not of the exotic variety thank you very much) is playful; check him out and decide for yourself.

Wally0726 (a.k.a. Roland) has updated his profile picture, since I started following him. In his newer profile photograph (check it out) he also shows off his enviable abdominals.

Kylie Minogue US Aphrodite Tour: Boston

Growing up in Boston has afforded me the opportunity to see nearly any musical act I’d like. Pop stars of all kinds at some point tour the US and a date (or dates) in Boston are almost always included. Kylie Minogue was an exception to this – that is until last night when her Aphrodite tour came to Boston. Ms Minogue started her North American tour earlier in the week in Montreal, but Boston was / is the first US city and she wasted no time acknowledging that to the crowds delight. However, I’m getting a bit ahead of myself…For those from outside the US, you may find it hard to believe, but Kylie Minogue is still a musician with very little name recognition. If she is known at all it would be more as a 1-hit wonder despite having a couple of hits here in the US (notably The loco-motion, Spinning around and Can’t get you out of my head). The exception to this, would be with the gay community which seems to know nearly every song she’s released, and every word to those songs. Kylie often stopped singing during her songs to let the crowd which was 80-90% gay men (a conservative estimate on my part) sing along to the songs. She plays several notable covers among my favorite was There must be an angel by the Eurythmics (but there are other gems included through out that both surprised and added to the show). If you’d like to see her set list for this tour you can check that out here. The crowd was already whipped into a frenzy by the time Kylie stepped on stage, but the energy level never really dipped or dropped at least not from where I was standing (some 10 rows back from the stage). Thank you Kylie for coming to Boston – I certainly hope you’ll pay us a visit again. Included below are a few more pictures from the show as well as a video of a song I’m sure you’ll recognize.

And finally, just a teaser of what you can expect if you are lucky enough to see Kylie on her US tour. This is from her Boston performance on Friday, April 29th.

Boys of Boston: Britney Spears, (Drop Dead) Beautiful

Shot in the South End and over at dBar its a cute homage to Ms. Britney Spears. I have to admit I feel lucky to be in a city with so many handsome guys.

Thanks David over at WGB for the tip.

Need I say more?
Thanks for the picture Andy.

Is it Vanity or Health?

Do you work out or when you hear the word “gym” do you think someone is referring to a guy (Jim). If you do work out what motivates you to exercise and stay true to your regimen? Is it vanity or personal health? Do you work out to off-set personal health decisions (e.g. you run so you can treat yourself to desserts or go out drinking and not feel guilty?)

I’m curious what motivates you and the people I see regularly at my gym each week. No matter how hard I work out, I’m not going to have a body like these guys so my own personal motivation can’t be all vanity… can it?

Oy am I really that shallow? I hope not.

American Experience: Stonewall Uprising

Think its difficult to be gay today? Watch PBS “American Experience: Stonewall Uprising”, it is a sobering documentary on Gay life in the 1960s.

American Experience: Stonewall Uprising
When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City on June 28, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.

ChrisNogiec – Chris (photo above) is another hottie who lives in Boston. He just changed his profile photo, but I’ve opted to keep his previous picture which shows off his amazing body. Chris not only has model looks, he’s a doctoral candidate, which by Boston standards means he’s wicked smart.
IM_Magoo – Not sure how Jake settled on his twitter name but I think this guy from Sydney is absolutely dreamy. His blue eyes, dark hair and scruff create a trinity of sex appeal. His tweets are full of Australian colloquialisms like “good onya” – only adding to his appeal.
ErikJudd – Erik from upstate New York may have the most kissable lips I’ve ever seen on a twitter profile picture. If I ever dated this guy he’d never have a chance to get on twitter, because I think I’d constantly be trying to kiss him.

Is it trendy underwear or underoos for adults

Are you noticing that more gay men and their metrosexual brethren seem to be wearing what I can only refer to as underoos for adults. Whenever I’m at the gym I see men walking around in underwear that resembles the popular children’s brand we all had as kids. I don’t know why, but I find it unnerving to see a grown man at the gym taking off his shirt, tie and dress pants to be standing in some cartoonish boxer briefs discussing his plans for the evening.

Initially I thought it might be an age thing, but today at the gym I saw a guy my own age standing in Hello Kitty underwear. Everyone reading this must think I’m a crumudgeon, but I’m not. I really appreciate whimsy and have a great sense of humor, but this is one fashion trend that definitely escapes me. However, I will admit it was rather fun pulling down these photos from online. Now if only all the men buying this underwear looked like these models maybe it wouldn’t bother me quite so much.

I won’t even bother to comment on underwear that tries to be cute or make a statement, because I will sound like a grumpy old man. However, I may have to revisit this if only to find more photos to rail against in a later post -LoL-.

FOXY Marathon Monday Party

This past Sunday a friend told me about the Foxy Action Group on Facebook, which organizes get togethers in Central Square every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month at ZUZU. Since I had Monday off (thanks to the marathon) I opted to check out the party and had a great time.

The bar is shabby-chic (okay maybe just plain shabby) and the crowd is distinctly Cambridge. For those not from the area, sorry for the local reference but its the only way I know to describe the vibe.

The crowd includes all ages and has a crunchy feel (not the usual preppy look which is so evident on the other side of the river). The handsome DJs played mostly 80s and funk. I don’t normally go out on school nights so I’m really glad I had the chance to scope out this night. I hope that FOXY nights are here to stay and hope they can expand this to every Sunday. I’ll definitely be back again.

I’ve included a couple of pictures that I snapped from my blackberry from last night. The quality is not great, but it’s all I have to share.

As always, suggestions for profiles to feature are welcome and if you’d like to follow me, you can find me at @BosGuy. Below are a few more #MenOfTwitter you may want to follow.
BrandonLewis3 – I have this feeling if Wikipedia had an entry for ‘Man-Candy’ a photo of Brandon might just be the definition to accompany the entry. He lists Atlanta as his home so be on the lookout for this tall drink of water. His tweets run the gamut from conversational to flirtatious. Be nice to him and yourself and start following him today.

TheMoInMontrose – This is one of my favorite guys to follow. Not only does he put the “Mo” in Montrose but he makes logging on to twitter more colorful and interesting. Always active on twitter and quick to reply back he’s both handsome and interesting. Trust me – you’ll love following him.

MisterVinceC – Describes himself as “not ya average kinda guy” who lists among his interests meeting people and surfing. This handsome guy definitely has a west coast vibe about him but he lists Boston as his home on Twitter. I would sum up his tweets in two words: “brief” and “flirtatious”. Follow him… You know you want to.

There will be no blogging today to show my support of THE DAY OF SILENCE, sponsored by GLSEN. Today is a day of action in which bloggers across the US can take a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools.

I remember the words and threats addressed to me and others when I was growing up and what paralyzed me and kept me in the closet when I was younger have emboldened and made me stronger as an adult. However, in memory of the frightened and confused teenager and young adult I once was and to show my support, today I am refraining from blogging. Your comments and thoughts are of course welcome, and I’ll be back to blogging on Saturday.

Day of Silence – Friday, April 15

THE DAY OF SILENCE which is sponsored by GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, is a day of action where students across the country take some form of a vow of silence to call attention to the silencing effect of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in schools. Through their activities students can speak out against harassment and organize for change for their schools and communities.

Not a student? No worries, neither am I but I’ll be showing my support for THE DAY OF SILENCE by refraining from blogging & tweeting. If you have a blog or actively use Twitter, I hope you will join me and the thousands of others on Friday, April 15th.

If you’d like to learn more, go to DAY OF SILENCE.

TheMaverickMen – How could I not include Cole & Hunter? These two Boston guys have become household names for most gay men in the US and they remain very approachable on Twitter. If you’re a fan of their work, check them out. Reading about their adventures on Twitter is enough to brighten anyone’s day.

_JuanAutrey – I just think this guy from Detroit is so damn sexy. Not sure if it’s the eyes, lips or what but it all works, and I love seeing his picture appear on TweetDeck when he posts on Twitter.

Dominicsjr – Dominic (another Bostonian) proudly describes himself on his Twitter handle as a “gnerd”. Rarely does a gnerd look so ggood. Dominic’s tweets are generally humorous or about food. But for the record, I think this guy looks more like gstud.

Guys in Kilts

Well to be specific, a guy in a kilt (click on picture to enlarge). My friend opted to wear a traditional Scottish kilt to the black tie affair Fenway Health Men’s Event. No comment on what was under the kilt, but lets just say all the guys who decided to wear a kilt (and there were quite a few) were comfortable and not nearly as warm as the rest of us in our tuxedos.

I’ve assembled a quick video you can view on YouTube “Fenway Men’s Event 2011” or you can watch it in the post below this one.

Fenway Health Men’s Event 2011

Check out this video from the Fenway Health Men’s Event in Boston last night. The sold out black tie event is a critical fund raiser for the Fenway Health Clinic. More than 1,300 gay men and their friends showed up to help raise money to support the Fenway.

Did you know? Fenway Health’s Ansin 10-story clinic is the largest facility ever constructed by an organization with a specific mission to serve the LGBT community.

Fenway Health Mission
The mission of Fenway Health is to enhance the well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and all people in our neighborhoods and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research and advocacy.
