homoerotic

Date: Unknown ||  Source: hommemaker.com

I want to dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. High Line Nudes by Kevin McDermott is now available for pre-order

photography, NYC, New York CityKevin McDermott is an accomplished photographer who first came to my attention in 2014 when his book, Virgin Island, with Detroit-based model, Todd Sanfield, was released. McDermott is getting attention again for a new book that is available for pre-order called High Line Nudes.

The forthcoming book juxtaposes the male form against impressive and iconic New York City architecture and is now available for pre-order from the publisher, Ten Avenues Press.

If you like piña coladas

gay couple, gay romanceIt was the first thing that came to mind when I stumbled upon this romantic photo. If you don’t get the reference, then I suppose it might not make as much sense but it remains a beautiful photograph.

Here’s to hoping that you end your day with an unexpected embrace and kiss.

Brazilian Photographer/Model Joao Victor Lisboa

Joao Victor Lisboa, photography

Joao Victor Lisboa – Brazilian Model / Photographer

This weekend I was pleasantly surprised to see Homotography featuring self-portraits of a friend of mine. Joao Victor Lisboa (not Lisbon as they printed) is a young, talented model/photographer based in Sao Paulo.

I can tell you that Joao Victor is every bit as handsome in person as he appears in his photos. He has a wicked smile and a sense of humor to match.  You can see Joao Victor’s full portfolio online here, joaovictorlisboa.com.

Story originally via Homotography.

Another blog I respect and enjoy, Accidental Bear, has also put several of his self portraits on view.

Nick wishes you a very happy Valentine’s Day

Patrick Lentz Photography, hairy, handsome, hunkMy friend and local photographer, Patrick Lentz, posted photographs of Nick who lives up on the North Shore, on Friday. The 25 year old from Gloucester loves the camera and agreed to take a series of photographs with Patrick, several of which have a very nice Valentine’s Day theme.

I’ve included a few photos below but you can see more of Nick on Flickr Patrick Lentz Photography, handsome, hairy, hunkPatrick Lentz Photography, handsome, hairy, hunkYou can see more of Patrick’s photography here, www.PatrickLentz.com.

L.A. to host simultaneous Robert Mapplethorpe exhibits

Frank Diaz, by Robert Mapplethorpe

Robert Mapplethorpe was a controversial photographer who’s homoerotic work created a national debate over public funding of art in the 1980s. Unfortunately, Mapplethorpe passed away in Boston in 1989 at the age of 42 due to complications from HIV/AIDS, but his work lives on.

In just a few weeks the LACMA and the Getty Museums will present complementary, simultaneous exhibitions of more than 3oo pieces of work entitled, The Perfect Medium.

For more information about these exhibits click on the links below:

IMAGINARY COUPLES by Olivier Ciappa

photographyFirst reported in The Advocate back in June 2013, Gay Voices on Huffington Post recently wrote an article about this bold photography project that brings celebrities together to pose as same-sex couples and families to combat homophobia and provide positive images of recognizable figures engaging in queer relationships.

The series, called “IMAGINARY COUPLES,” is the brainchild of French artist and photographer Olivier Ciappa and has been displayed in galleries and cities around the world from Paris to Lima. “IMAGINARY COUPLES” is tentatively scheduled to hit the United States this summer, possibly in Los Angeles.

Instagram account Chris Nogiec

InstagramEarlier this month I wrote about the Instagram account @intergaycial.  This time I wanted to feature the Instagram account of a guy who lives in Boston and whom I’ve met socially, although I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest we know each other, @chrisnogiec.

The few times we’ve met, I’ve been struck by how friendly Chris is. I’m also impressed by the fact that he’s quite a smart guy; he has his PhD, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is a Certified Sports Nutritionist. All that aside, he has an active Instagram account filled with pg-13 photos I’m sure my primarily gay and female readership will enjoy.

If you like what you see and you are on Instagram, check out @chrisnogiec and while you are on Instagram check out my own account, @bosguyblog.

Herb Ritts exhibit at MFA closes Nov. 8

MFA Boston presents Herb Ritts WORKLast March I wrote about a small Herb Ritts exhibit opening at the MFA. The exhibit which spans two rooms includes some of the photos included in the MFA’s 1996 retrospective “Herb Ritts:  WORK”, which remains one of the museum’s most popular exhibitions to date.  If you’ve not had a chance to stop by and see the exhibit at the MFA Boston, I’d suggest you hurry since it closes on Sunday, November 8, 2015.

Justin and Nick on Instagram

Instagram, justinick_pghConfessions of a Boy Toy recently shared a blog post recently entitled,  Meet Justin & Nick: Instagram’s Sexiest Gay Couple.  For about six months I have been one of the more than 170,000 people who follow their joint account on Instagram and without fail each of their posts bring a smile to my face.

As you can probably tell from the photo above and a few more below, these guys are easier on the eyes than sun glasses on a bright summer day.  If you are not already, you too can follow this handsome Pittsburgh couple via Instagram at @justnick_pgh.

Ptown gallery walk

Ptown, art, AMP Gallery

Photo by: Keith Krisa at the AMP Gallery at 148 Commercial Street

While tens of thousands have descended upon Provincetown for Independence Week parties and celebrations, a weekly tradition worth checking out (if only to take a break from all the revelries) is the Ptown Friday Gallery Walk.

While many think of the East End when they think of Provincetown’s art galleries, don’t overlook West End galleries like the AMP Gallery at 148 Commercial St. where Keith Krisa’s exhibit opened and will run through Wednesday, July 8th.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  Ptown offers a little bit of something for everyone.  While visiting try something you may not normally do.  You might be surprised by how much you enjoy perusing Provincetown’s art galleries.

Adam Phillips ponders the weather

handsome, hunk, sexy guy, hairyAdam seems to be confused about the weather. But he seems to pull off the ‘contemplative’ look convincingly enough in his Emporio Armani underwear. Watch out Max Emerson.
