Provincetown Carnival 2015 is today

Off to Ptown for Carnival

Ptown, Candy LandSergio and I are off to Provincetown to enjoy Carnival Week celebrations with friends. This year’s theme is Candyland.  I’m looking forward to all the costumes and parties and will work with Sergio to pull together a video to share with you after we return from Ptown.

Below I’ve included the 2014 video we created from Carnival last year. The theme for 2014 was perhaps the best in recent memory – Comic Book Capers – enjoy the video and check back next week for my Carnival 2015 video.

Billy Porter performing in Ptown Carnival Week (Aug 16-18)

Broadway in PtownA little bit of Broadway comes to Provincetown to help kick off Carnival Week. You can check out the very talented Tony and Grammy award winning Billy Porter at his Provincetown debut, starting Sunday night.

Carnival Week pool party at Brass Key, Aug 17th

Carnival Week Brass Key Pool Party in ProvincetownCarnival’s annual pool party at the Brass Key will be on Monday, August 17th. So come for some fun in the sun at our wet and wild pool party with DJ Andy Morris. Tickets (while they last) are $10 and include a cash bar and some swimsuit entertainment to get you in the Carnival mood.

Pool party details are, Monday, August 17th from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Brass Key Guesthouse at 67 Bradford Street, Provincetown.  More info here.

I’m sure the show tonight which also features Seth Rudetsky will be fabulous.  I’m glad NPH and David had the chance to meet Alan and enjoy a breakfast at one of my favorite spots in Ptown.

Carnival Week boat cruise now on Sunday, 8/16

Carnival Week boat cruise in ProvincetownCarnival Week boat cruise sponsored by Bay State Cruises, Cape Cod 5 and Ptown’s Chamber of Commerce is next Sunday, August 16th. Boarding begins at 5:30 p.m. and the boat leaves at 6:00 p.m. (no boarding allowed after 5:55 p.m. so arrive early).  The cruise leaves from MacMillan Pier and runs from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m.  Buy your tickets ahead of time before it sells out.  More info here.

Tomorrow night if you happen to be in Ptown I’d encourage you to consider participating in the Friday Gallery Walk, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Provincetown is home to some truly exceptional artists and is a wonderful way to enjoy a beautiful evening out.

Anyone contemplating visiting galleries should check out The Alden Gallery at 423 Commercial Street.  Joerg Dressler, a former South End resident and friend, will have work on display as part of a two-person show, “Joerg Dressler and Heather Toland”.  Their works will be on display and available for sale through Thursday, August 20th (Carnival Week).

Opening reception: Friday, August 7th from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Ptown’s official Carnival Week parties and events

Ptown, Candy LandIn just a couple of weeks one of Provincetown’s busiest theme weeks will take place.  Ptown’s Carnival Week theme this year is Candy Land.  Sounds like a great treat and it should be a blast with this year’s grand marshal, Kathy Najimy, rinding down Commercial Street.  There are great parties planned through out the week. Coco Peru comes to New England

Miss Coco PeruMiss Coco Peru will be coming to New England later this month with her first stop  in a couple weeks at MaineStreet in Ogunquit where she will perform her one woman show, A Gentle Reminder: Coco’s Guide to a Somewhat Happy Life! on Friday, August 28th and Saturday, August 29th.

If you cannot see her when she is performing in Ogunquit, Maine, check out her shows at The Crown and Anchor in Provincetown, where she will perform August 31st through September, Sunday 6th.

Club Cafe GOGO Dancer Competition (THURS., AUG 6) Want to work as a gogo Dancer at Club Cafe? Club Cafe is hosting a competition starting at 11 PM with the winner each week receiving $75 cash and a finalist position for August 27 where we will announce our new gogo dancer. Location: Boston

TWC’s Guerrilla Queer Bar (FRI., AUG 7) The first Friday of every month The Welcoming Committee (TWC) takes over a traditionally straight club and for one night only turns it into one of Boston’s biggest gay clubs.  Location: Boston

Flag Football Beach Bowl (SAT., AUG 8) All are welcome to participate or just hang out on the beach and socialize. After playing head over to MaineStreet, where the front deck and bar will be reserved for the FLAG Flag Football Post-Beach Bowl Tea Dance. Location: Ogunquit
