ADAM & ANDY is set in the fictional New England town of Woodfield, CT. You can learn more about this strip by visiting, adamandandy.com.  To see previous Adam and Andy cartoons link here.

Boston Ballet presents “The Sleeping Beauty”

dance, bosartsOne week from today, Friday, April 28th is opening night for Boston Ballet’s production of The Sleeping Beauty, which will run through May 27th at the Boston Opera House.

Click here for more information or to purchase tickets

For those unfamiliar with this popular ballet, The Sleeping Beauty begins with the christening of Princess Aurora. All the fairies are invited to bestow gifts on the young princess, except for the Fairy Carabosse, who is outraged and gives a spindle to Aurora, announcing that one day the princess will prick her finger on it and die. The Lilac Fairy who has yet to present her gift, undermines the curse by promising Aurora will not die but fall into a deep sleep for 100 years until awakened by a prince’s kiss. As predicted, Aurora pricks her finger on a spindle on her 16th birthday. The Lilac Fairy intervenes and puts Aurora and her kingdom under a sleeping spell. A century later, Prince Desiré meets the Lilac Fairy who leads him to Aurora. His kiss breaks the spell and the ballet concludes with a grand wedding celebration.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:

Seen in the sea and seen in the sky
Forever differs from eye to eye

Vintage gay

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? 345 Harrison Avenue reaches full height

South End real estate, SoWa real estate, Boston Real EstateThe pace of construction in the SoWa district of Boston’s South End neighborhood seems to have quickened recently along Harrison Avenue. Earlier this month the 14-story multi-building complex currently known by its address, 345 Harrison Avenue, topped off.

When construction is completed the complex will include 585 new residential apartments along with 40,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, 275 parking spaces and 325 bicycle spaces. Amenities in the building will also include a resort-style pool, fully equipped fitness center and sky lounge with beautiful views of the city. Below is a rendering of what 345 Harrison will look like when completed. The view is looking north with the Ink Block to the right and behind that I-93 with a barely recognizable and poorly created skyline of Boston’s Financial District off in the distance.

This week on Instagram: Izzyberdan

InstagramThis week on Instagram I’m featuring Izzy Berdan; someone you may not know if you are not part of Boston’s LGBTQ community.

Izzy is a creative tour de force who adds so much to our community. Opinionated and eccentric this local artist is who I think of when I hear people talk about the creative economy. His IG account includes a lot of his provocative and beautiful photography.

Do you haiku?

poem, poetry, casual encountersI enjoy poetry and from time to time I do write down a few lines like this haiku, which I believe I wrote about 15+ years ago when I was first coming out.  Like most of my poetry, it isn’t that deep or abstract so perhaps you can relate.

Casual encounters
