This photo was shared earlier this year in the Facebook Group Workingmen Beefcake. I love the smooch but can’t quite make out the names written at the bottom of the photo. Any thoughts on when or where this photograph may have been taken? The car in the background may provide a hint.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
I like to post this poem each summer. Written by Nizar Qabbani; a Syrian diplomat and poet who lived in the last century and published more than 50 books. His work was known for its sensuality – not something many arab poets were known for at the time. This poem has an unmistakeable melancholic and romantic tone that I love.
Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up one or two of your own. Leave a funny caption in the comment section, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.
“On Wednesday We Wear Pink“

Boston’s Emerald Necklace, a 7+ mile string of interconnected parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (yeah the same guy who also created Central Park, NYC), is celebrating Olmstead’s 200th birthday.
The string of parks begin or end (depending on your perspective) at the Boston Common and weaves its way through the Back Bay into the Fens then along the Jamaica Way through Brookline where the heavily wooded park full of beautiful stone bridges and a trickling river will hide you from city life which is just feet from the walking / biking paths. The park continues past Leverett Pond (this section is called Olmstead Park and is one of the prettiest sections to pass through). Finally you’ll work your way to Jamaica Pond before continuing on to the Arnold Arboretum and Franklin Park.

While there are sections of the park that require you to ride alongside street traffic and there are more than a few intersections to ride through (especially in the Back Bay and Fenway), it is still a favorite bike ride. It’s perfect on warm sunny days. The hundred year old trees create a canopy shielding you from the heat of the sun and the near constant presence of water makes it a bit cooler than out on the streets.
Later this summer when you find yourself in Boston without any plans, consider exploring this gem of a park named for the aerial view of green parkland that is meant to be reminscent of an emerald necklace.

Have I introduced you to my future ex-boyfriend? We’re going to meet at a coffee shop and fall madly in love. He just doesn’t know it yet, and I have no idea who he is. Can anyone tell me more?

Seems like an appropriate Furry Friday photo for the first Friday in June.
Happy Pride to everyone.

You may have already read about this gaff but it’s too good of a story to overlook. Last week, Burger King Austria caused a stir on social media with its “Pride Whopper” campaign, that launched at the start of the month. The campaign centers on Burger King’s signature burger, allowing customers the option to order either two sesame-coated top buns or two flat-bottom buns.
According to BK, the intention was to highlight equal rights and equal love—by having two same side / types buns. However, the advertising agency seemed to be unaware of the meaning of top and bottom and proved to confuse (and in my case amuse) many in the LGBTQ+ community. Some turned to Twitter to ask Burger King if they were familiar with what top and bottom mean. One Tweet I read asked if there were any vers buns, LOL!
Here is a photo of the troubled Irish artist Francis Bacon (left) with his lover John Edwards (right) in SoHo. They met in London in 1974 and remained together until Bacon’s death in 1992.
