Message Sent, or I’m Nervous by Steven Boyle

Message Sent or I'm Nervous, I hit send or modern meltdown, poem, poetryPoetry is my favorite form of prose and when done right, it speaks to me on an emotional level that I’ve yet to experience in any other form. Music is a close second to poetry and they share a lot of similarities in that much of it I do not care for or understand, but when I find a song or poem I like – it resonates.

Last year I posted Steven Boyle’s poem, I Hit Send or Modern Meltdown. Not knowing what to expect, his poem took me completely by surprise.  Boyle’s reading below is a sequel of sorts to this poem. The reading of, Message Sent, or I’m Nervous, was recorded about one year ago at his high school, which has significance, considering the content and message shared.  If you’ve not heard his poem, I Hit Send or Modern Meltdown, listen to that first.

Epic Slip ‘n’ Slide video

UK gymnast and stuntman, Damien Walters, posted this video on YouTube  earlier this month, but I didn’t see it until I stopped by Brenton’s blog, Aussielicious. This video makes me miss the warmer weather. If anyone over at Lawn on D is reading my blog, I’d love to suggest this for next summer.

Gay quiz with LGBT ally Chris Thompson and his Dad

The distractingly handsome and heterosexual vlogger, Chris Thompson – also known as SupDaily06, posted a new YouTube video this week where he quizzes his Dad on gay lingo.  The video is both funny and endearing. Take a watch and see how well his Dad does guessing the meaning of terms like: Otters, Throwing Shade and Basket Shopping.

When Love Hurts by JoJo

New England native and pop star, JoJo, is back and she’s smoking hot in her new music video. Are you hearing this out at the clubs? It’s practically begging for a remix. Who will be the first to do this for me?

Hocus Broke Us by Todrick Hall

Salem, MADo you love Todrick Hall? Do you love the cheesy early 90s Halloween movie starring Bette Middler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy – Hocus Pocus? Then you should check out this new video from Hall which is a faux-trailer for a sequel to Hocus Pocus.

Americans try to pronounce Massachusetts towns

I have no idea how I missed this video when it came out earlier this year, but much thanks to @LargeTony for bringing this to my attention. It gave me a good laugh as it will for anyone who has lived in Massachusetts.

The gay age gap

Thanks to my friend Rudy for sharing this clip on FB. This is hilarious.

Max Emerson in the buff on Hashtag Living

Hashtag Living, Max Emerson, Baker MachadoUnderwear model Max Emerson joined host Baker Machado in an episode of Hashtag Living, a show that talks to stars and how they use social media.  Watch the handsome model/actor, Max Emerson, demonstrate an ab work out in the buff. Never has an abs exercise seemed more tantalizing.

After you watch the clip perhaps you’ll want to help him with his kickstarter campaign to help end LGBT homeless youth, here.

Controversy presents Janet Jackson tribute – Saturday, Oct 3rd

Nathanael Bluhm, Machine BostonJANET JACKSON Tribute Night: A Grown & Sexy Affair

Looking for something fun to do tonight? Check out Controversy upstairs at Machine in the Fenway.  The evening will include a loving tribute to Ms. Jackson by Teashaboo, Endego & Karizma, while one of my favorite DJs, Begbick, plays from Janet’s impressive catalog of music.

While there is no dress code, grown and sexy attire is strongly suggested. The Facebook event page asks “come dressed for our red carpet photo booth.” and all club kids know you always do as the DJ asks.

Upstairs at Machine | 1254 Boylston St. in the Fenway | 10pm – 2am

Just to get you in the mood, I’ve included one of my all time favorite songs from Ms. Jackson. This late 80s hit seems appropriate considering her absence from the public. Welcome back Janet – I’ve missed you too.

Madonna’s Rebel Heart beats in Boston tonight

Madonna is in Boston tonight with her Rebel Heart tour. She is and has been one of my favorite entertainers ever since I first heard her in the early 1980s. She was a role model, trendsetter and provocateur and I loved her instantly.  I’m not at her show tonight but I hope that everyone attending has a great time. I’ve opted to include this vintage clip of Madonna from her Like A Virgin Tour. The medley even includes a nod to Michael Jackson’s Beat It.

Jesse Jackman & Dirk Caber

According to an article on Queerty a lot of heterosexual men are tired of Kim Davis and her ilk’s antics. Earlier this week two friends uploaded a video to YouTube with a message for the Notorious K.I.M., giving birth to #KissesForKim. I love their message and think they are on to something.  The LGBT community and our allies are far more influential when we are spreading a message of forgiveness and inclusion than when we react out of anger and seek retribution.

You don’t have to be straight to show your support.  My friends Jesse and Dirk were nice enough to share this photo to show their support.  Do you have a photo you want to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.

Tim Cook, Apple CEO on Late Show with Stephen Colbert

Apple CEO Tim Cook explained last night on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert why it became important to him to tell the world that he too is gay.

For the record, I am so happy he did.
