If you happen to be watching this season of SYTYCD you are already familiar with the beautiful (but very tough judge) Misty Copeland. Misty is best known as a soloist ballerina for the American Ballet Theatre, but this new commercial from Under Armor is sure to increase her fame and change people’s perception of ballet. More than an art form, Under Armour’s commercial showcases the beautiful athleticism of ballet in their new I Will I Want ad campaign.
In addition to the inspirational message of never giving up, perhaps it will inspire you to check out Boston Ballet’s 2014-2015 season. Information about performance dates and tickets can be found online here.

I’m sure nearly every gay man who reads this blog is familiar with the Warwick Rowers in the UK who for the past few years have been posing naked and selling calendars in an attempt to draw attention to homophobia in sport. Proceeds they raise go to sportallies.org; a group dedicated to promoting inclusion and challenging homophobia through sport.
While the video and calendar these guys produce is NSFW – their cause is most worthwhile so I wanted to let you know that they have kicked off their crowdfunder campaign for their 2015 calendar.
If inclined, I’d direct you to warwickrowers.org/crowdfunder.
If you liked the video you may want to do some shopping on their website. Remember that the proceeds go to fight homophobia in sport, warwickrowers.org/shop.
Thanks to Lambert Rahming for bringing this to my attention.
This video that dates back to 2009 is absolutely hilarious, despite the freaky clown mask. Haven’t seen this before? Check it out.
MaxNoSleeves: How to cut the sleeves off your T-shirt
Max is originally from the Boston area but now lives out on the left coast. In the summer I post this as a guide how to make your own tank tops.
Watch these Dolce & Gabbana models recite corny pick-up lines after inhaling a balloon full of helium. Filmed during the preparations for the Spring Summer 2015 show the models (hairpins on their heads and all) are both handsome and funny to watch.
This is too recent to really be considered vintage, but it is too funny to be ignored. Wait and watch through the very end. The build up is worth it.
Boston’s summer tradition of hosting free movies at the Hatch Shell – otherwise known as, Free Friday Flicks, will be showing Despicable Me 2, in HD down at the DCR Hatch Shell starting at 6PM this Friday.
Back in 2009 David Carroll posted this video after United Airlines broke his guitar. He used YouTube to sing about his frustrations when the airline chose to ignored him and in doing so schooled UAL on the lessons and power of social media. When the video hit more than 10M views, United realized they had a PR problem. Although I’m not a fan of Country Music – I love this video. Well done David.
Sergio and I will be in Boston for this year’s 4th of July celebrations, but here is a quick look back at all the fun in Provincetown at last year’s 4th of July Week.
The successful pop duo, Karmin, met and got their start here in Boston when they were attending Berklee School of Music. While here they created a host of “Karmin Covers”. I love their cover of 80s duo Go West King of Wishful Thinking.
Did you know the US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) bans gay & bisexual men from donating blood? On July 11th a nationwide blood drive will take place to bring attention to the ban and hopefully help save lives.
Sign the petition by clicking on the link below
Tell HHS & FDA to end the ban against Gay & Bisexual male donors
Participating Gay/Bisexual men who bring an eligible donor or ally come to donate blood in Boston will also be asked to fill out a message to the FDA and sign a White House Petition to end this pointless ban. The goal in Boston is to fill every blood donation appointment on Friday, July 11th, to help meet the White House Petition goal of 100,000 signatures gathered from across the US.
The Rowes Wharf Sea Grille at Boston Harbor Hotel hosts a summer movie series called Music & Movie Fridays (in past years called “Movies by Moonlight”). An outdoor screen is set up on the side of the large gazebo so restaurant patrons and pedestrians can watch a classic movie along Boston’s waterfront. Similar to the Free Friday Flicks hosted at the Hatch Shell – these movies are open to the public, but unlike the shows at the Hatch Shell this attracts fewer children.
The Postman Always Rings Twice
