2013 Holiday Season: December 4-24th

Tonight the Boston Pops open for their first holiday performance of the 2013 season.  The concert series will run through December 24th. Holiday Pops is one of the most popular seasonal traditions and although I do not have plans to attend performances this seasons, it is a magnificent show. Tickets have been on sale so availability is limited but you may purchase tickets here.

Below is a clip from the 2010 Boston Pops Holiday season.  It gives you an idea of what to expect if you’ve never attended this Boston tradition before.

Moves like Jagger

Actually more like moves like BosGuy, which is one reason why I need to be intoxicated to go dancing.  My sister sent me this funny video last month, and I thought it was hilarious.

The best bar mitzvah entrance – EVAH!

OMG, check out how Sam Horowitz from Dallas made his entrance to his bar mitzvah.  Sam was clearly having the time of his life.

All Chicago Gay Hockey Assn Wants for Christmas

Chicago Gay Hockey LeagueHave you seen this cute video from the Chicago Gay Hockey Association?  I love it when these videos are created; I recently posted this video from the Boston Friends Lesbians And Gays Football League.

However, I really love this video that the Chicago Gay Hockey Association (CGHA) posted on YouTube late last week.  Great job pulling this together, bravo guys.

World AIDS Day

AIDSI’m still traveling in Brazil, but I wanted to remind everyone that today is World AIDS Day.

KNOW YOUR HIV STATUS

The AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts is the largest AIDS Service Organization in New England and they are always looking for volunteers and donations.  Interested? You may learn more about how to get involved or to make a donation by visiting here.

Here is a slightly naughty video that a blogger buddy of mine helped create that you might like.  Stay safe, stay healthy guys.

The Slutcracker: Holiday cheer for the twisted

Boston SlutcrackerAre you struggling to get into the holiday spirit? Looking for something a bit different to do? If you live in the Boston area, check out the Boston classic The Slutcracker, a burlesque, satirical version of The Nutcracker that opens tonight at the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square and runs nearly every night through the month of December.

The production is the brainchild of Babes in Boinkland troupe director Vanessa White. While it is not quite what you will see if you attend the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker, what it lacks in technique you will find it more than makes up for in laughs. It may be the best holiday entertainment for the money.

Tickets ($25) are currently on sale. More information about performances and how to purchase tickets can be found here.

Heads up – the video may not be appropriate to play at your office.

Britney Spears – Work B**ch by the Boys of Boston

Boys of BostonI really should read my Facebook News Feed more often.  A week or two ago I posted this photo from my friend Jesse’s News Feed but I hadn’t bothered to read what he wrote.  Turns out a bunch of guys from Boston’s FLAG (Friends, Lesbians And Gay’s) Football league made this fun video.  Jeesh I’m embarrassed that I was so slow on the uptake with this one.  Thanks Thom for the tip.  Enjoy the video if you’ve not seen it yet.

Hardcore gamers

How did I miss this video when it first was posted some 18-months ago.  If you’ve not seen this before, check it out although mind that there is profanity so be careful where or who you play this in front of

“Sex Ed.” monologue

There are many reasons why I’m thankful I’m not a parent but discussing sex ed with my 8 year old daughter would probably rank up there. This YouTube video of Julia Sweeney sharing her discussion about the birds and the bees with her eight-year-old daughter is absolutely hilarious.  This clip is completely safe for work; I actually teared up at one point from laughing so hard.

#ShowYourJoe

I love this new Kmart commercial. Thanks to WGB for sharing.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway in April

Neil Patrick HarrisLooks like I need to book a trip to New York City this spring when Neil Patrick Harris stars in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. I LOVE this movie and can only imagine how fantastic it will be when it opens on Broadway in April. Not familiar with the 2001 film starring John Cameron Mitchell? Check out the movie trailer I’ve included.

Play me I’m yours

Starting in late September 75 pianos were placed around Boston to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Celebrity Series of Boston. Today The Boston Globe posted this time-lapsed video that shows some of those pianos. Makes me miss having those pianos around.

Take the bus

I love this commercial to encourage use of public transportation.

Life’s a choice: choose wisely

World Revolves Around MeMy sister shared with me a really cool video about life.  It may seem like a long clip, but I thought the message is a great and wanted to share it.  Thank you Susan.

The sweet sound of victory

Boston Red SoxHere is a video of members of the St. Louis and Boston Symphony Orchestras talking trash.  It gets really interesting when Seiji Ozawa (former Conductor and rabid Red Sox fan makes a surprise appearance and the music begins).  I’m sure this video is making everyone in St. Louis cringe, but it is music to my ears.

P.S. St. Louis, Boston’s World Series celebratory parade has just started. 🙂
