For many people in the United States, today is a holiday. Happy Independence U.S.

There will be no celebration at the Hatch Shell this year and the dubious weather this weekend has put many plans in doubt for those in the Boston area so to help heat things up, I’ve added some July 4th themed mancandy below.
Much thanks to Fearsome Beard blog for posting this photograph earlier this year. I knew it would make for a great Saturday morning coffee post on my blog.
ADAM & ANDY is set in the fictional New England town of Woodfield, CT. You can learn more about Adam and Andy and purchase a copy of “the definitive collection of Adam and Andy” by visiting, adamandandy.com.

On this day in 1867 the British North American Act (a.k.a. Constitution Act) was enacted and is now referred to as “Canada Day”. The holiday is celebrated similar to the July 4th holiday in the United States, with parades, family barbecues and fireworks. In 2018, Sergio and I traveled to Montreal, which also (when there isn’t a pandemic) hosts Jazzfest at the same time. I wrote about the trip, here.

This week’s photo comes from the blog gaytwogether. The .com site seems to be no longer active but the link to the typepad site seems to have a number of photos and is a great website to peruse if you like my weekly vintage gay post. When do you think this happy couple was photographed? I really have no clue but assume this may have been taken in the 1950s or 60s based on hair style and the fact that they are so uncovered.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. The ICA Watershed, which first opened in the Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina in summer 2018, transformed a 15,000-square-foot, formerly condemned space into a vibrant, new venue for the public to see and experience large-scale art in East Boston.
During the pandemic, it was used as a food distribution site to address a direct need within the East Boston community, but starting next month the space will reopen with a massive sculptural installation by Dominican artist Firelei Báez.
Báez will temporarily convert the Watershed gallery space into the site of an imagined, ancient Caribbean ruin where the sea has receded to reveal the archeology of human history in the Caribbean.
The exhibit will open later this week, starting July 3 and run through September 6, 2021. You can learn more by visiting the ICA Watershed website.

I love this photo of WG Saraband, a contemporary abstract expressionist artist who is based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The photo which is pinned to Saraband’s Twitter account is from their wedding day.
