Vintage gay

Jon Richardson shared this photo on his IG account months ago and I knew it would make for a great vintage gay photo as we head into Memorial Day Weekend – opening weekend for the summer on Cape Cod. The photo shows a group of men goofing around at Herring Cove in Provincetown in the 1950s.ek
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? Email me at bosguymail@gmail.com.
This week on Instagram: danroberge
Dan is an Australian dancer who has danced for the Washington Ballet Company in D.C. for the past ten years. Aside from being quite handsome, he has quite a collection of interesting photos which are heavy on selfies but also mixed in with some beautiful dance photos and fun travel pics. You can read more about Dan in this spotlight article from the DC Metro Weekly from this past February.

Caption this photo
Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up a caption or two of your own. Leave a witty or funny caption as a comment for this post, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.
I am hoping for some creative posts for this week’s “caption this photo” of Norwegian police – who by the way look nothing like Boston cops.
“Arrest me!”
Check out my Covid cut
This past weekend I asked Sergio to cut my hair – a first in our 21 year+ relationship. I will admit I was nervous about asking him to give me a trim but my last haircut had been in mid March and after 8+ weeks I was overdue to put it mildly. I tweeted out the middle photo (below) on Sunday, which resulted in a lot of likes and more than a few comments asking to see an after photo so I wanted to share Sergio’s good work. I feel like a million bucks.
I still can’t get over the barely there facial hair after 8 weeks of no shaving! So glad it is gone and that little experiment is finally done. While I love facial hair on other guys, I’m just not genetically wired to grow it. Below are a are a couple of photos from Sergio trimming my hair this weekend. Thank you Sergio!
Men in kilts
Here is another throwback to several years ago when my buddy was showing off his kilt. I believe this photo was taken in Tennessee at his boyfriend’s place.
Monday morning mancandy
This morning’s post of Wesley Wallace is thanks to Lyne B. is a long time reader who suggested Wesley as a potential Furry Friday. After looking through his playful Instagram account, I saw photos that would work for virtually all of my weekly posts, but I thought I’d feature him here today to get everyone’s day and work week off to a great start. Thank you Lyne for the suggestion.
Celebrating 16 years of marriage equality
Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage 16 years ago today. Today, same-sex marriage is legal in all states.
Massachusetts Chief Justice Margaret Marshall’s excerpt (above) from the landmark case is worth sharing to celebrate both the victory for equality and to remind us how much progress has been made in such a short span of time.
Stella Boston closes
Stella Boston in the South End announced on its social media pages this past Friday that the restaurant would close later that night. Stella has been a fixture in the South End for 15 years.
However much I’ll miss their menu, it was the bar scene that always brought me back. The bartenders who worked there made that place fun. Some of my favorite memories include squeezing past all the out-of-town diners crushed into the tiny front bar and crowding the entrance, waiting for their table. Sergio and I would make a beeline to the much less crowded back bar where April was holding court. I also loved my Sunday afternoons with Matt pouring drinks – making Sunday truly a fun day. Adam, Alejandro, Jen, Lucia — the list of fun, engaging bartenders is long and over the years Stella attracted equally colorful regulars who added an even more interesting dynamic. Stella will be missed.
I want to wish everyone who worked at Stella (now and in the past) a big thank you for so many happy memories and tasty cocktails.

Saturday morning coffee
Thi s guy is 100% adorabble. I would love to spend a leisurely Saturday morning drinking coffee and reading the paper together, althoough I would find him probably too distracting to remember anything I read.
