This week on Instagram: omgblog

Looking to inject some R-rated humor into your Instagram feed? Look no further than the OMGblog Instagram account, which I’m sure many of you are already familiar. If you like you can also check out the very popular, omg.blog.

I can’t think of an account that does a better job of posting what I’ll refer to as “gay humor” posts. The OMG blog posts on Instagram are provocative and sexual  but no more revealing or overt than anything you might see in mainstream magazines and blogs. However, the deviant nature of most posts are sure to make them stand out and in my opinion both fun and funny. Definitely worth the follow if you find yourself laughing at these two examples.

Temptation Tuesday

red speedo, handsome, hunk, muscular guy, swimmerIt is precisely because of adverts like this one that Calvin Klein sells so many pieces of underwear.  It’s quite possibly one reason why I think orange is now my favorite color.

Men in kilts

half naked man, handsome hunkThis week’s post might be more appropriately named man sort of in a kilt. Much thanks to my friend Brian Moynihan for sharing this photo and suggesting it for my weekly Monday post. I hope it provides you a much needed pick-me-up to get through your Monday.

Quarantine reading suggestions from Reach Around Books

Many Americans have spent the past month observing shelter-in-place home orders to help curb the coronavirus. While the news of  late has been pretty bleak, I thought a little light reading might be a welcome suggestion.

Brenda’s Beaver Needs a Barber
Put Tony’s Nuts In Your Mouth
Suzy Likes to Look at Balls
Spank the Monkey Lends a Hand
Come Swing with Us (not shown above)

Reach Around Books are for those of you who love a good double entendre and promises to have you in tears reading these “children’s stories”, that are most definitely for adults. These books are certain to offend those with a Puritanical streak but for my readership, I think this is perfectly on brand – so to speak.

Below is a YouTube narration from one of the five books in this series, Spank The Monkey Lends A Hand.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brain

Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

This week I’m sharing a video from TedEd about a prehistoric virus that has been found preserved. After a late night working, a sudden earthquake hits and breaks all the sample vials. Will you be able to destroy the virus before the vents open and unleash a deadly airborne plague?  Watch the video below.

Bear Hunt

Here is an interesting story: People in and around Boston are placing stuffed bears in their windows and front yards for children and adults to look for and find during walks or drives. The movement is loosely based on a book called, “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt”.

How does it work? Simple – put a teddy or other any kind stuffed animal in your window, on a porch, tie them to a tree, mailbox or pole. The creativity is endless.

While this is based on the children’s book mentioned above, I do have a certain leather teddy who may start to make an appearance with some creative comments that are decidedly not for children to read.

Vintage gay

I love this week’s photo. Based on their dress, I’m assuming this was taken somewhere in the west but I really have no clue as to when or where this may have been taken. Anyone care to take a guess?

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. This week on Instagram: michael.herbertson

street photography, handsome gingerMichael Herbertson is a bit of an enigma on Instagram in that I’m unsure if he appears in any of the photos on his account which has more than 100,000 followers. The photographer’s account focuses on street photography, candid, and candid portraits. He does include photos from model shoots as well.

Photos are mostly of men on or near the beach in Southern California. I do like his photos and it is refreshing to see an account showing how handsome men are appear without excessive styling or posing. It makes his photos seem much more accessible and interesting – and quite different from most other photos you see.
