This week’s temptation will appeal to jock-lovahs or those who like men with killer bodies and pouty lips.

nesday, December 10th from 4:00 – 9:00 pm your favorite South End shops will be open to encourage you to shop and dine in the neighborhood.
You can park for free at 540 Harrison Avenue and free Pedi Cabs will be available from 5-8pm to take you to any of the 32 participating retailers in the South End at no cost – just remember not to be a Grinch and tip your Pedi Cab riders.
A handful of restaurants are also participating in the program so you can grab something to eat after you’ve flexed your retail muscle. For every $25 you spend at a participating store you will be entered to win a massive gift basket which has items from each boutique shop. To find out which stores and restaurants are participating on Dec 10th visit www.shopthesouthend.com.
As the days get colder, we have more layers of clothing between the world and our naked bodies. This means that we are more apt to pack away the pounds of fat where no one can see them – OUR BELLIES. Here is a simple, 4 ingredient, hot chocolate recipe the will help you fight the hard battle against the freezing weather.
Start by boiling 1 cup of milk (I use whole milk). Mix in 2 rounded tsp of cocoa powder and 1 tbs of sweetener (I prefer stevia or honey) and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract. If you want to stay extra warm and have fresh breath, add a shot of peppermint schnapps.

The annual SoWa Holiday Market is Dec 13 &14th. Never mind the fact that it is not in SoWa – perhaps they should rename this the South End Holiday Market?
If you like arts & crafts this is the place to be. The craft fair opens at 11 a.m. both days closing at 6 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday. Expect to find an array of indie goods, including: handbags, jewelry, pottery, letterpress stationery, silk-screened t-shirts, baby clothes, re-purposed wool accessories and more.
The SoWa Holiday Market is in the Benjamin Franklin Institute, at 41 Berkeley Street. Admission is $5. More information about the Holiday Market can be found on their website, www.sowaholidaymarket.net.
It most definitely didn’t feel like Christmas yesterday with the temperature in the low 40s and a persistent drizzle, but that all changed when we walked into the Back Bay for the 15th annual Santa Speedo Run, which brings together hundreds of men and women who raise money so they can run through the streets of Boston in a speedo and little else. This has become quite the tradition and is an event both Sergio and I look forward to each year. Enjoy our 2014 video and share it with friends who may not have been able to see this firsthand.
Earlier this week HBO issued another teaser for the second season of Looking, which returns Sunday, January 11, 2015. I’m not a fan of the 30-minute format for dramas, but I eventually did get hooked on the series. Do you plan on watching Season 2 of Looking?
Toys For Joys 2014 takes place in just a few hours. No plans tonight? Register and pick up a few toys for underprivileged children in Boston. This is a very social and welcoming party filled with free flowing cocktails and guaranteed laughs. No boring speeches or rubber chicken dinners required; just a lot of fun.
This year’s party is in Bay Village at the Revere Hotel’s Space 57.
Register here or at the door tonight!
Soon Boston will host their 15th Annual Santa Speedo Run in Back Bay. I’ll be there to photograph all the fun and create another video. If you are attending any parties or running this year, send me your photographs before 2PM ET today and I’ll try to include them in this year’s video.

Do you hate doing laundry? Washio is a laundry / dry cleaning app that started servicing Boston and some surrounding communities last month. I was only too eager to try this new service when they approached and asked me if I would give their service a try.
For professionals on the go and busy couples, I can see how Washio could become quite addicting. The service, which is app-based, could not be easier to navigate. It only took a few minutes to create a profile, schedule a pick up and drop off. Prices are reasonable considering the convenience: wash & fold is $1.70/lbs.; launder & pressing men’s dress shirts $2.75; and dry cleaning men’s dress pants $7.95. For the full pricing list link here.
More information here: getwashio.com
I was impressed by the punctuality, polite service and ease of use. With winter coming, the idea of trudging down the street to lug my dress shirts and pants back home becomes less amusing and the convenience of Washio more compelling. Washio continues to expand their service here in Boston so check their website for more details. Washio also operates in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland, Chicago and DC. Check out their promo video below.
