Dine Out Boston
Dine Out Boston formerly known as Restaurant Week Boston starts today and runs through Friday, August 10th and then again from August 12 – 17th.
Lunch $15/$20/$25 | Dinner $28/$33/$38
Participating restaurants offer prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner at one of the three price options (shown above). While one can choose from personal favorites to the newest dining spots, I encourage people to try more expensive dining options from restaurants you’ve never been before. Dine Out gives one a chance to enjoy these restaurants without breaking the bank (provided you stick to the prix fixe menu – something I never can seem to do). Hurry up and be sure to make a dinner reservation.

Sequel to the 90s gay flick “Trick” in the works
Yesterday Kenneth in the 212 shared that one of my favorite gay films, Trick, is planning a sequel just in time for its <gulp> 20th anniversary.
Trick was released in 1999 as an independent film that focused on the incredibly cute (and young) Christian Campbell and J.P. Pitoc and their misadventures one night in Manhattan. Both actors provided stellar performances and the storyline is so enjoyable, but it’s Ms. Coco Peru’s predatory bathroom scene (see below) and Tori Spelling’s nervous breakdown at a diner that still make me laugh when I think about it. If you’ve never seen this film – definitely see if it is available on Netflix or Amazon.

MFA Boston presents Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic
One week from today on Thursday, August 9th Museum of Fine Arts members can reserve their passes to see the highly anticipated Winnie-the-Pooh: Exploring a Classic. The member’s preview will run from September 16 -21 before opening to the public. For non-members who would like to see the exhibit, tickets to see the show can be reserved starting on August 30th.
This exhibition will trace the history and universal appeal of the classic Winnie-the-Pooh stories written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard through nearly 200 works drawn primarily from the archives of the Victoria and Albert Museum. The immersive display is intended to take visitors on a journey exploring how these stories have stood the test of time and continue to delight generations of readers around the world.

Vintage gay
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. MBTA expands early morning and late night bus service
Starting one month from today, bus service in Boston will get a significant boost. Earlier this summer the MBTA announced that they would add nearly 300 more bus trips each week, to give riders more options and to provide more access to Boston’s Logan Airport.
The additional trips will build on an extension of late-night/early-morning service that started this past April; some bus routes now start as early as 3:20AM. Late night service will roll-out on September 1 and ridership will be evaluated in December 2018, and again in April and June 2019 to determine if late night ridership warrants continued service or should be expanded. Assuming the late night service is a success that will mean parts of the city will have nearly 24-hour service; something that is long overdue in my opinion.
You can read the MBTA analysis and plans in their June 4th, Late Night Proposal and Early Morning Service Update.
