Just in time for the holiday season, Modus Vivendi has released their Glamour Line inspired by the Glam rock style invented in the 70s in the UK. Regardless of the inspiration, the collection contains so many sequins you can make the case that they are festive enough to wear at December’s Underbear party at The Alley.
While the Glamour tanktop and low cut brief shown above aren’t my personal style, a magician on the next Atlantis Cruise or their ‘helper’ might love it.
My aesthetic runs more to the Modus Vivendi Dali line (specifically their boxers) shown below. BTW, I’m a medium – just in case you wanted to send me a pair. I prefer strong graphic prints to sequins for my underwear.

While I was compiling this week’s post about LGBTQ events in and around Boston I inadvertently forgot to mention that money raised at Club Cafe’s Bingo tonight will go to benefit Community Servings.
For those who may be new to Boston or unfamiliar with the Community Servings charity, Community Servings prepares and delivers lunches and dinners each week to families who are home-bound with an acute life-threatening illness. Each November Community Servings’ Pie in the Sky fundraiser raises money to help them continue these important services.
Check out tonight’s Pie In The Sky Bingo at Club Cafe starting at 7PM and don’t forget to place a pie order for Thanksgiving from Community Servings. If you won’t be around for the holiday, you can always donate the pie to a family to help bring more holiday cheer to their Thanksgiving.
Click here if you want to order a pie from Community Servings!

Ryan Landry and his Gold Dust Orphans are back starting at the end of this month with their new Christmas musical, Whatever happened to baby Jesus.
I can only imagine how Ryan Landry’s twisted imagination will weave the story of the 1960s classic, Whatever happened to baby Jane, starring Hollywood icons Bette Davis and Joan Crawford. Opening night is Thursday, November 30th and shows will run through Saturday, December 23rd (every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Tickets start at $43.00 including tax and handling fees.

I love this blog that Jean-Paul writes about his life in London, living with his husband Guido. The fact that they live above the restaurant Guido owns, The Spanish Onion, makes for some great (and funny) posts that also appeals to the foodie in me. I’ve been reading Jean-Paul’s blog for so long now I feel like I know the both of these men even though I have no idea what they look like.
Jean-Paul’s blog is all writing – few if any visuals accompany his posts. His stories are mundane in the sense that they are so relatable, but his ability to tell a story is anything but run-of-the-mill and he makes for a great story teller. His most recent post (at the time I wrote this), Over You, is a great example. He talks about comforting a friend suffering from a broken heart, but the way he relays the drama unfolding is both so familiar and so comforting. After reading his posts, I often find myself thinking if Jean-Paul and Guido lived in Boston (or if we lived in London), we’d be friends – at least that is what I’d like to think.
Intrigued? Check out Jean-Paul’s blog, It’s My Husband and Me.
Last month I was invited to special screening of the book recently turned into a movie, Call Me By Your Name. Below is a brief description of the story which remains ever so faithful to the book.
Movie Synopsis: It’s the summer of 1983 in the north of Italy, and Elio Perlman (Timothée Chalamet), a precocious 17- year-old American-Italian boy, spends his days in his family’s 17th century villa living with his parents. Elio’s father (Michael Stuhlbarg), an eminent professor specializing in Greco-Roman culture, and his mother Annella (Amira Casar), a translator, both love and dote on their only child. Oliver (Armie Hammer), a charming American scholar, arrives as the annual summer intern tasked with helping Elio’s father. Amid the sun-drenched splendor of Northern Italy, Elio and Oliver discover something in themselves that will alter their lives forever.
For those of you familiar with the book by André Aciman, the storyline will sound very familiar. For those who love the book, the good news is the movie does not disappoint. It comes to life in this coming of age story that touched me each time I read the book and did so again in the movie theater. It is ripe with scenes from the book like the infamous moment with the peach and the father son tête-à-tête near the end of the movie is even more touching when viewed and Oscar worthy in my opinion. The ending changes slightly and for once I side with the movie (not the book) preferring how the director Luca Guadagnino chose to close the movie with a very emotional Elio who’s feelings flit across his face as the movie credits roll on the screen.
Call Me By Your Name will be released in the United States on November 24th and I strongly encourage you to see it.
Don’t forget that Tuesday is Election day in Boston. After fulfilling your civic duty check out the Boston Jewish Film Festival, which starts Wednesday. For those of you who are looking to get more active check out the Boston Ski & Snowboard Expo which starts Thursday and runs through Sunday or join Queer Inclusive Climbing Klub (QuICK) on Friday for some pizza and climbing at Brooklyn Boulders in Somerville.
