About Hawthorn and Child:  Hawthorn and his partner, Child, are called to the scene of a mysterious shooting in North London. The only witness is unreliable, the clues are scarce, and the victim, a young man who lives nearby, swears he was shot by a ghost car. While Hawthorn battles with fatigue and strange dreams, the crime and the narrative slip from his grasp and the stories of other Londoners take over.

If you’d like to read the book I’d like to encourage you to consider purchasing it from one of Boston’s independent booksellers.

Dale Lazarov gay comics

Dale Lazarov erotic gay comicsLast week one of my favorite bloggers, Matt Rettenmund, who writes the blog boy culture, had a post about an adult themed gay comic illustrator, Dale Lazarov.  As a kid I never really got into comic books, but I appreciate creativity and know there are a lot of people who do like comics.

The website, www.dalelazarov.com, describes the comics as an imprint for wordless, gay character-based, sex-positive graphic novels.  You can check out Lazarov’s books on Amazon, or get digital editions here.

Why lesbians earn more than heterosexual woman

LesbiansA friend and follower of this blog recently shared an article from The Economist website, Why Lesbians Tend To Earn More Than Heterosexual Women, which I thought was interesting and wanted to share.

The article admits that this type of research can be tricky because not everyone is forthright about their sexual orientation or compensation but based on studies (not cited in this article) it appears that lesbians earn more than heterosexual woman, which is contrary to heterosexual and homosexual men where heterosexual men earn about 10-12% more in Canada and the US.

The article explores factors that might contribute to lesbians earning more than their heterosexual counterparts but it is mostly speculation.  I hope the article is correct and that professional lesbians help close the delta of pay between the sexes. The lesbians I am friendly with are dedicated, smart and hard working. They deserve the accolades and acknowledgments for their contributions – hopefully that translates into more $ for them.

Read the full article in The Economist, here.

I miss the summer

handsome, sexy, coolI know that the weather this past fall and up through January has been unseasonably warm, but the past few days have reminded all of us in Boston that winter is here. To chase away my winter blues I’m looking at photos of people relaxing on the beach or poolside. I’d love to join this guy and jump into a pool.
