Single Ladies choreography

beyonceIn an attempt to maintain my blog’s “wicked gay” rating, I thought it was time to post this Single Ladies choreography chart.  The timing with the pending Valentine’s Day weekend is purely coincidental.

Temptation Tuesday

Temptation Tuesday, handsome, hunkHow can I pass up a guy with a Red Sox cap and a DD cut off? This guy has to be from Dorchester.  Which begs the question, “Why have I never seen this guy?”

Realm health and fitness tips from Kyle

fitnessNew Year’s Resolution Reset

How far have you come with your New Years resolutions? A majority of people have fizzled out on their fitness goals by now, so I’ve created a list of healthy results from a month of intense exercise for the 2 most popular fitness goals.

Weight loss: 4-8 pounds of weight loss is an amazing pace to lose fat. The 8-10 lb mark is where you will notice your pants are fitting a little better, and people that are close to you are starting to take notice. This pace is ideal in that it is less likely that you’ll lose any muscle with the fat that you are taking off. The quicker you lose it, the quicker it will be put back on. If you aren’t there yet, and you want to be – START NOW!

Muscle gain: Muscle gain norms are dependent on age and exercise history but 1-2 lbs in a month is attainable. Keep in mind, that in order gain muscle you will have to be at a calorie SURPLUS so the buildup of fat is almost inevitable but hopefully limited. If you haven’t gained any muscle this month, and you wanted to – WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Making the case for Valentine’s Day

Making the case for Valentine's DayNot everyone likes Valentine’s Day which is later this week.  I can understand why some may not be all that enthusiastic about the holiday, but if I could make a wish, it would be that this fortune will become everyone’s reality.

If there is someone in your life whom you love – romantically or otherwise – let them know.  Valentine’s Day encourages you to verbalize what that friend, family member or special someone means to you; that is something  we could all get better at doing. Happy Valentine’s Day.

Monday blues

Garfield, HumorI love Garfield. He just gets me.

Dreaming of summer

Swan BoatsI’m a wimp. I had to get out of town to feel the warmth of the sun and forget about all this cold and snow.  For those who cannot get away, save this photograph which is posted on Boston.com’s Tumblr page.  Better yet, check out all the wonderful images people have submitted that remind you of how wonderful Boston is in the summer months <sigh>.

Marriott hotel may open at Ink Block in 2017

Marriott at Ink Block South EndThe developers behind the South End Ink Block, National Development, recently unveiled an image of a proposed 200 room AC Hotel by Marriott, a brand that targets Gen X and Millennials.  According to National’s PR machine, the hotel will have a contemporary feel that will blend in with the four adjacent buildings.

Based on drawings that I’ve seen previously of the Ink Block development, the hotel building looks like it would be on the corner of Albany and Traveler Streets. The article (linked below) indicates this property would open in early 2017.

I’m not a huge fan of the name of this product, but what they lack in creative branding they more than make up for with ingenuity.  I want one of these.

Muscles

muscles, shirtless man, hunkHow I wish I had the discipline, genes and whatever else it would take to be this fit. But then I remember I like french fries and ice cream (but not at the same time because that would be gluttonous).

How are you surviving the winter

how to survive a boston winterI hate to be a jerk to those who live in colder climates, but the winter weather will not be ending anytime soon.   To help you avoid a case of the winter blues, this past fall I wrote a five part series outlining how to survive a Boston winter.

Included in my list of tips were suggestions like, booking a trip to go some place warm; finding yourself a cuddle buddy; and tips on how chocolate can help. However it was my fourth tip in the series that I suggest you seriously consider and give a try: visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Aside from the Gardner being a beautiful place, the museum has a tiny garden that has flowers and grass.  Sit by the courtyard (preferably on a sunny day) and let the sunlight filter down to the ground level.  Enjoy the smell of the grass and flowers, and look at all the colors.  Trust me when I tell you this is some of the best therapy you can get in Boston to fend off a bad case of the winter blues.

Furry Friday

handsome, hunk, shirtless guy, moustacheI posted this photo because it reminded me so much of Tom of Finland.  I’m fairly certain if any of those illustrations were to come to life they would look exactly like this super machismo (not to mention retro looking) hunk.
