I’m trying to find the silver lining to this winter. Much thanks to Julian for sharing this image with me.

The performance runs for 90 minutes and is followed by a post-show migration to join up with The Welcoming Committee.
Tickets are available on a Pay What You Can basis with just $5 minimum at the door so there really isn’t any excuse to miss this show. Details about the show and tickets are available here.

This talk was given by Panti at TEDx in Dublin, Ireland last September. Panti shares her experience of the little, everyday things that can have a huge impact on the wellbeing of gay people and shares her thoughts on navigating a world in which the simple act of holding hands can be a political statement in itself.
Earlier this month work brought me out to California. Rather than flying home right away, I decided to cash in some loyalty points and stay at the Westin Market Street in San Francisco’s SOMA district for a night so I could visit a friend I’ve known since grade school who now lives in North Beach.
When given the choice, I like to stay in SOMA. The neighborhood is convenient to touristy destinations like the waterfront and Union Square as well as the financial district and plenty of gay bars (one needn’t only spend time in The Castro).
The Westin San Francisco is situated between Mission and Market Street. The property was clean and well managed, and I would return to without hesitation. My 24th floor hotel room offered me a lovely view of Union Square which is about four blocks away. The property backs up to the Contemporary Jewish Museum, Four Seasons and a very popular Equinox gym. Additionally, a pedestrian walkway called Yerba Buena Lane has a half dozen upscale bars and restaurants all within a 2-3 minute walk.
If you are contemplating a visit to SF or have a pending trip planned, this may be a great property for you to consider booking. The hotel is large and steps from the Moscone and just a few blocks from the financial district.
It is 2015 and for some, coming out and being true to who you are with your closest circle of friends and family can remain daunting. Watching this video of the Rhodes Brothers who are fraternal twins brought me back to when I finally came out at first to friends and later my family. It is hard to articulate how personal and terrifying this process can be for individuals and my heart broke all over again watching this clip. I have no idea what their relationship with their father is like who apparently does not live near his sons, but his response was spot on, which only made me get more choked up. Nearly 20 years later and I still get emotional watching the stress and pain associated with coming out.
Much thanks to NewNowNext for sharing this story since I don’t subscribe to the Rhodes Bros YT channel and missed this post from earlier in the month.

Read Boston Magazine’s article penned by Christopher Hughes, A Chef’s Guide to Eating Well in the South End. Hughes, the magazine’s online food editor, asked Ken Oringer (Clio, Uni & Toro) and Top Chef season 10 winner Kristen Kish to share their favorite South End spots.
The article really illustrates how lucky South End residents are, showcasing a wide variety of options. If you are curious where Oringer and Kish go for cocktails and / or cuisine check out the article. My only surprise – even though I agreed with many of their choices – was how many other options we have in this tiny neighborhood that went unmentioned.
How can anyone overlook such neighborhood gems like Formaggio with their superior selection of cheeses and meats or Brix with their unique selection of small vintage wineries? Restaurants and bakeries like South End Pita, Orinoco, Elephant Walk and Render Coffee add color and options that most neighborhoods would kill to have but the South End has such a rich collection it is easy to forget all the markets, restaurants, bakeries and cafes crammed into this tiny n’hood.
Is there any doubt that Late Night TV is in the midst of a Renaissance? I love Kimmel’s fictitious beef with Damon that goes back to when his former girlfriend, Sarah Silverman shared this hilarious video, I’m F*cking Matt Damon.
I’ve not been following the details of ‘DeflateGate’, but this video from Jimmy Kimmel Live last night is hilarious. Love all those local Boston actors.
