Happy 4th of July

BosGuyI’m on vacation today and feeling a bit lazy about what to blog about so I figured some patriotic eye-candy would suffice.

The circuit hits Provincetown

20120704-152725.jpg

The circuit is in full swing in Provincetown as men from all over descend upon this tiny town. The crowds seem more manageable this year but the town still seems to be filled to capacity. I’ve spent much of my time relaxing and going to shows including Ryan Landry’s Show Girls and Mary Poppers. Later this week I’ll check out Ms. Coco Peru at The Crown and Anchor.

I’m really struggling with writing posts and adding images to my blog using my iPad so I promise to add more once I get home and to have those posts drop next week. I’ve included a photo of what the daily Tea Dances at the Boatslip look like, proving that the crowds continue to flock to Ptown no matter what people say about the economy. Below is a photo from Monday’s Tea Dance.

4th of July celebration in Boston

Despite the fact that Boston is a relatively small city, we happen to have one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the nation and the program will be televised later tonight on CBS.

4th of julyThis year’s headline artist is Jennifer Hudson, and the emcee will be Massachusetts native, Michael Chiklis.

The event starts early in the day for those who want to stake out space along Boston’s beautiful Esplanade Park so they can watch and listen to the concert in person.

You can find out more about the event at www.july4th.org.

Fitness tips from Kris Kranzky

Fitness tipsKris Kranzky, my personal trainer at The Boston Sports Club in the South End, shared his typical weekly workout regimen in last week’s fitness tips posting.

Kris has recently modified that routine to get into shape for two hockey tournaments next month by adding different workouts that focus more on power and explosive movements.

If you are looking to add variety into your routine, consider including sports specific exercises including olympic lifts, cleans, snatches, deadlifts, squats, plyometrics and quick feet drills.  Ask trainers at your local gym for suggestions or advice.  You can also use YouTube to watch demonstrations and to give you ideas on how to include new routines into your work out regimen.

Independence Day

Independence DayAmericans from coast to coast are enjoying the 4th of July holiday. If you are observing the holiday, I hope you are able to enjoy the day with friends and family.

Things that make BosGuy go hmm…

I saw this photo on my friend’s fb page and couldn’t resist pilfering it.

Miss Coco Peru in Ptown

20120703-021117.jpg

Ms. Coco Peru made a special appearance at Ryan Landry’s “Show Girls” performance on Monday night. The show – the first since being kicked out of The Crown – was filled to capacity at The Pied and the audience included Broadway legend, Patti LuPone.  In addition to Ms. Coco Peru and many other talented guests last night, Varla Jean Merman provided colorful commentary through the evening as co-emcee with Ryan.

I’ll be blogging much more about Ryan’s show after I get home, but thought I’d share this photo from after the show. Yes, that is a squeaky toy in Sergio’s pants. They were given out at the show… “Show Girls” is a classy act as one can imagine.

4th of July celebrations in Ptown

Tomorrow is one of the biggest holidays of the year for Americans.  I’m spending the holiday on the beach in Provincetown.  Curious what the 4th is like in Provincetown?  Here is a  video from all the fun last year.

Temptation Tuesday

Boston GuyAlthough it is not quite Independence Day, I’m already down in Provincetown so I thought I’d get a jump start on the holiday by including a patriotic Temptation Tuesday post. Hope you enjoy no matter where you happen to live.

Tea time at the Boatslip

The Boatslip is one of those places that has survived the test of time and become an institution –  at least here in Ptown. Many who come to Provincetown will venture to at least one of the Boatslips daily Tea Dances which run from 4:00 – 7:00pm.

Provincetown If you get tired of the sun and want to get off the deck, the dance floor is always a popular option; careful it gets sweaty in there.

Tea DanceFor those who want to keep going there is actually a “late” Tea which occurs down the street at The Pied. Not quite as popular as the Boatslip it still can get a crowd as you can see.

The Pied

Talk to you later… It’s 3:45 and I need to get ready for Tea.

Rainbow over Provincetown

20120702-144159.jpg

Yesterday, after temperatures soared into the low 90s for a third day in a row, a bit of rain started to fall during afternoon Tea. The rain proved to be the perfect respite to all the sun and heat. As soon as the rain started, it seemed to end and this rainbow appeared over Provincetown harbor. I had a lot of fun relaxing by the water and seeing friends. Today has proven to be equally beautiful and relaxing.

Men of Twitter

Boston GuyEach Monday I blog about profiles of men on Twitter who catch my eye and whom I think you may enjoy following. This week I’m away in Provincetown so the weekly post is taking a temporary hiatus.  Enjoy some photos of past Men Of Twitter, and feel free to send me recommendations for future posts.

How to make rain

@Stella Boston

Boston GuyStella Boston is an Italian restaurant in the South End that I enjoy for food and cocktails.  The bar staff are among my favorite in the city and the crowd is always friendly.

Here I am with my former trainer, Stew, Sergio, and my current trainer, Kris.  These guys are as friendly and nice as they are handsome.  Both of them are great trainers at the South End Boston Sports Club (BSC).
