Jo Hay Gallery presents SIMPLY MASCULIINE

Jo Hay Studio, Ptown, Provincetown

Silence, Acrylic on Board by artist Chris López at Jo Hay Studio – Provincetown

One of my favorite things to do when in Provincetown is to visit the galleries on Friday evenings when many of them open their doors with new exhibits. Tomorrow, Friday, July 8th the Jo Hay Studio now located at 167 Commercial Street opens with their new show, SIMPLY MASCULINE by artist Chris López.  The work pays tribute to those who identify as Bears on the eve of Bear Week 2016.  Should you happen to visit Provincetown check out this show which runs from Friday, July 8 –  Friday, July 15.

You can read more about Chris  López and the Jo Hay Gallery, here.

Seth Fornea

Seth Fornea at Boatslip in Ptown July 4, 2013

I like to think of my blog as an important, educational site that can help you expand your vocabulary.  Today’s vocabulary word is Ginger (or as they say around these parts, Gingah).

Ginger (ˈjinjər /noun
Definition: A man or woman with red hair.
Example: Seth Fornea is a ginger from head to toe.

What LGBTQ hate mail feels like

While the tide of public opinion has changed in recent years, there remains a strong and vocal group who see that acceptance as a direct and personal threat to their way of life.  It is easy to disregard these groups but  that would be a mistake. Rachel Lauren Clark, a member of the Pride Toronto board, sums it up best when she says, “the worst part of hearing the hate mail read out loud wasn’t the message’s content, but the fact it is so commonplace.”

Videos like this one from Pride Toronto remind us that the discussion in the LGBT community of do we live in a post-Gay society is a bit premature.

Much thanks to JMG for sharing this.
