Ptown on the 4th of July

Ptown chroniclesIt has been a couple of years since Sergio and I have spent the 4th of July holiday in Provincetown, but I have very happy memories of all the craziness that transpires.  For all of you in Provincetown for the holiday week I hope you are having fun and I look forward to hearing your stories when you come back.

PrEP studies highlight the importance of adherence

gilead, co-pay cardPrEP is a topic of conversation sexually active gay men should have with their doctor. While it may not make sense for everyone, understanding the impact the drug may have on you and our community is important.  Recently researchers from Gilead Sciences, Truvada’s manufacturer, presented findings from their analysis of several studies at the ASM Microbe 2016 conference in Boston. This was what they learned:

An analysis of 32 studies of Truvada a.k.a. PrEP found that almost all of those who contracted HIV had undetectable or very low levels of the drug in their bodies at the time.

The takeaway message is if you choose to use PrEP and are engaging in sexually risky behavior you MUST make sure you take your medication as prescribed. You can read the full findings online here.

Furry Friday

handsome, hunk, hairyI posted these photos of one of my favorite Provincetown drag performers a couple years ago and now that the summer is in full swing in Ptown I thought I’d share the sexy selfies once again for this week’s Furry Friday – enjoy. This guy is as talented as he is good looking.

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaserEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.

If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s riddle:
Two people had dinner together and both ordered iced tea for drinks. One drank their iced tea very quickly and finished five in the time that it took the other person to finish just one drink.

The person who drank one iced tea died, while the other survived. All of the iced teas were poisoned so how did the person who drank the most iced teas survive?

Like riddles? Check out past week’s brain teasers.

Obama greeted with cheers by Canadian Parliament

I know that not everyone feels this way, but I wholeheartedly agree with the Canadian Parliament who cheered President Obama with a standing ovation while chanting “Four more years!” I would gladly vote for Obama again.

This video must make everyone at FOX News physically ill to see Obama so loved. It certainly doesn’t gel with their view that we’ve lost influence among our friends and allies. You can see Obama’s full address on Joe My God.

Keeping with the theme of prominent gay men from years past (last week I had a photo of Oscar Wilde and his lover), this week is a photo of Walt Whitman – one of America’s most celebrated poets and his muse and younger lover (he had a penchant for younger men), Peter Doyle.

Word of the day: Twink

word of the day, gay languageI like to think of my blog as an important, educational site that can help you expand your vocabulary.  In honor of the circuit party, that officially starts in Provincetown tomorrow, today’s vocabulary word is twink.

Twink (twingk /adjective
Definition: A typically younger, thinner, gay man with little or no body hair.
Example: Twinks love Sergio.
