Each Wednesday morning I post a photograph that gives me pause. I’ll get you started with a possible caption that hopefully inspires you to share a few of your own in the comments section below.

Boston’s Latino night returns Wed. Nov. 11th
Latino Wednesday is back for one night only to bring the 1st Arena Pre-Party to Boston. Alex Remann of ARENA FESTIVAL is producing the event and bringing DJ Fabio Luigi from London. Think of Wednesday’s party as a teaser for the main event “ARENA”, that will take place in Playa del Carmen on the Riviera Maya from January 27 – February 1, 2016.
Doors open at 10PM at Venu Boston located at 100 Warrenton Street in Boston’s Theater District. Find out more by visiting their Facebook page, here.
Jordan Smith on The Voice
Sergio and I have been watching The Voice this season, and ever since the blind auditions I’ve been a bit obsessed with one contestant in particular, Jordan Smith. The unlikely singer from coal country in Kentucky has an amazing voice, but it is his comments after singing that touch my heart the most; unfortunately neither clip capture what I’m talking about but check out his rendition of Chandelier in the video above and his performance from last night when he sang Halo by Beyoncé.
Anyone else watching The Voice? I’m curious if you also think this guy is special.
Boy Culture blog celebrates 10 years
One of my favorite blogs, boy culture, celebrated its 10-year anniversary this past Friday. My blog isn’t quite as large or prolific, but after writing for eight years, I can appreciate the commitment and wanted to extend my congratulations to Matt.
Blogging is an outlet that has provided me much satisfaction through the years and a lot of that comes from getting to meet and know bloggers locally and elsewhere. Bravo Matt – congratulations on this milestone anniversary for you and your blog.
Watts Safeword: PrEP Myths
One of my favorite blogs, Accidental Bear, has a blog post that I wanted to share. The links below the video are courtesy of that blog which you can check out in my blogroll.
The term “safe sex” is sometimes relative, especially considering the many options the LGBTQ community has today. One such relatively new option is PrEP, the HIV prevention pill, but a lot of misconceptions about the drug remain. Do yourself a favor and talk to your doctor to determine if PrEP is right for you.
Check out Amp and Bolt from Watts the Safeword on YouTube video about PrEP. Last week they sat down to briefly explain how it works and why it may be right for you.

SoWa First Friday this weekend was a blast
Friday night was freakishly warm and that in part probably contributed to the thousands of people who turned up to see some of their favorite local artists as well as 21 new art galleries. If you cannot guess from the photo I took of Sergio at the Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, the evening was a lot of fun.
Congratulations to all the new galleries and boutiques at 460 Harrison Ave. I wish everyone of them much success. I can’t think of a more eclectic combination of retail / boutiques in Boston. If you missed this month’s opening, mark your calendar for the next First Friday event, December 4th from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM.
700 new apartments proposed in the South End
The Boston Globe reported this week that Leggat McCall Properties filed plans to build 700 new apartments; mostly one bedroom and studios in the South End. The plan suggests it would rehab the building shown above at 575 Albany, and demolish three smaller buildings on East Dedham and East Canton streets.
The Leggat plan joins a list of large residential developments in recent years that include the Ink Block (300+ residential units), Troy (375+ residential units), the yet to be named 345 Harrison project (550+ residential units) and 600 Harrison (150+ residential units) – and with the recent sale of the Boston Flower Exchange and Quinzani’s Bakery one should expect more announcements to follow.
According to the Globe, construction could begin in early 2017. If you’d like to read more read the full article in The Boston Globe here.
OutRyders opening party at Club Cafe this week
OutRyders is a 250+ member gay ski and snowboard club here in New England. I included a link to their website in my September blog post, Making friends in Boston through local sports teams and clubs, but I wanted to give them another shout out because later this week on Thursday, November 12th they will be hosting their annual Opening Party at Club Cafe, starting at 7:30.
The purpose of the party is to provide a chance to socialize (off the slopes) where members from last year and people who may not be familiar with the organization can share cocktails, chat and learn more about the coming ski / snowboard season. This year the OutRyders will have day trips to ski resorts through out New England as well as a few longer get aways including a trip to Sugarloaf over the holidays (12/27-30), and a trip out West to Telluride (2/21-28/2016).
For more information visit their website at www.outryders.org.
Weird Things Gay Couples Do via Buzzfeed
Once upon a time I visited Buzzfeed daily but those days are long gone and posts that starts with 10 Pictures of… is more likely to make me roll my eyes rather than read it. However, Sergio shared this video of Weird Things Gay Couples Do from Buzzfeed and it made me laugh so I thought I would share it. I can certainly relate to a few of these situations.
Gay video streaming service, dekkoo.com, offers 30-day free trial
Gaius Media which owns LGBT distributor, TLA Entertainment, is launching a new premium streaming subscription service that caters to the LGBT community called, Dekk0. Launched earlier this week, Dekko is offering a 30-day free trial of their premium streaming service.
I know that streaming services are very popular so I thought I’d give Dekko.com a shout out. Dekko’s press release says they have, “an extensive movie library and original productions” that provide plenty of gay themed films and television programming. If you decide to give it a try, let me know if you like it.
