MUST SEE: The Golden Gals at the Art House in Ptown this summer

The golden gals at the Art HouseVarla Jean Merman and Ryan Landry are teaming up again this summer in Provincetown in a new show at The Art House called The Golden Gals.

The show will play Thursday thru Saturday at 7:30PM, from June 5th thru August 30th.

Sign me up. I’m there and if you are visiting Provincetown you’d be a fool to miss this.   Dorothy is played by Ryan Landry, her mother Sophia is played by Connie Tavanis, Blanche the oversexed southern belle is played by (who else?) Varla Jean Merman, and their clueless cohabitant Rose is played by Brooklyn Shaffer. I can hardly wait to see this show.

Realm health and fitness tips from Kyle

Kyle, health, fitness, nutritionEat seven or more fruits and vegetables a day and live FOREVER.

Okay not really forever, but according to University college London’s study published in the Journal of Epidemiology & Community Health, “Eating seven or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day reduces your risk of death at any point in time by 42% compared to eating less than one portion.” The study goes on to restate that the more vegetables an individual consumes, the less likely they were to die at any age.

Though the angel of death can strike at any moment in time, you can at least have the upper hand if you consume 7 portions of fruit and vegetables. This study reaffirms the Australian public health campaign of “going for 2 and 5”; consuming 2 fruits and 5 vegetables a day (and we all know how in shape Australians are). For anyone wondering what a “portion” means, it is generally about a serving that equals to a little more or less than the size of your fist. FOOD MATTERS.  Fresh is best, and it is not as hard as it sounds so give it a try.

Read the full study findings here.

Monday blues

Memorial DayFor many Americans this Monday isn’t quite so blue. I hope you can spend your Monday morning relaxing and enjoying your day rather than rushing around trying to get to work.

The Normal Heart on HBO at 9PM

AIDS

The AIDS crisis had become a lightening rod issue for the Gay community by the mid-80s; just as I was coming to grips with my own sexuality. The response from the Reagan Administration, the community I lived and popular culture probably did more to shape my attitudes of social justice, the role of government and community than any other single event in my life. It also started what would be an intensely personal and difficult internal debate about religion that I would fixate on for another 10-12 years. I’ll miss the premiere tonight but plan on watching the HBO production.

About The Normal Heart: Originally written as a play by Larry Kramer, The Normal Heart focuses on the rise of the HIVAIDS crisis in New York City between 1981 and 1984, as seen through the eyes of writer/activist Ned Weeks, the gay Jewish-American founder of a prominent HIV advocacy group.

Madonna 2014 New Track says BosGuy

Madonna Katy PerryMadonna – the mother of reinvention – is driving fans crazy with rumors and innuendo. At least that is what Billboard Magazine seems to be hinting at with their riddle recently posted on their website – here.

Billboard will reveal who the artist is behind the 50-second snippet (listen to at the above link).  Based on their not so subtle hints is there really any doubt?  Rumors also suggest a May 26th Memorial Day surprise launch on iTunes. Check back and you can thank me latah.
