This week on Instagram: blu.fit.dad

This week’s account is relatively new, having started in December 2019. The account shows photos of this 40-something, handsome Dad of 5 in a variety of poses. Despite the repetitive nature, I find the account very inspiring as a contemporary who would like to get into better shape.

Will Boston’s gay bars survive COVID

Boston, boston cityscapeRecently, Alex Reimer wrote an interesting article asking  the same question about gay bars in the US for Outsports where he is the deputy managing editor. Because he is a Massachusetts native the article references places we are all familiar with if you live in Boston and makes the read all the more personal.

Will gay bars survive the coronavirus shutdown?

In addition to the lost revenue, in approximately 5 weeks Boston’s gay bars will take another hit when Boston’s Gay Pride Week was suppose to occur. Pride Week brings out people to celebrate and all of Boston’s gay bars see a bump; a bump this year they will not benefit from. I do worry about Boston’s few, remaining gay bars and Provincetown’s highly leveraged bars that make their money from popular theme weeks and summer travelers.

Give Alex’s article a read, because like Alex – these bars are important to me as well and I hope they can emerge from this pandemic. The few bars that remain enrich LGBTQ life here in Bostson and will need your support as well.

Temptation Tuesday

I have a nagging feeling this guy has been a Temptation Tuesday at some point in the past. The photo is too familiar but I figured even if that is the case, it is certainly worthy of a repeat.

Men in kilts

Thom Evans, Max Evans, handsomeThis week’s post is a throwback of sorts, featuring rugby brothers, Thom Evans on the left and Max Evans who last April walked the runway    for the annual Tartan Day at the Church of the Holy Apostles in New York City. The images come from this Daily Mail article written last April.

Monday morning mancandy

sexy hunkLast week’s Monday morning mancandy proved to be quite popular (no real surprise there) so I’m back with a new post to grab your attention and hopefully make you smile. May the work week pass quickly for you.

Some states say it’s time to open

covidThe state of Georgia has earned widespread criticism, after Gov. Brian Kemp said businesses like gyms, hair salons, and barber shops could open this past Friday, April 24 with theaters and restaurants to open tomorrow on April 27.

I’d like to use this post to encourage a little social activism on your part. If you think Gov. Kemp’s actions are reckless then speak up, regardless of where you live. Call the Georgia State Govenor’s Mansion to arrange a tour like Professa Cross shares below.

If you are unsure when a specific state will be lifting their “stay-at-home” orders this site has a listing of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, here.  I’ve included a  list of states that say they will lift ‘stay-at-home’ requests this week. For some states with low infection rates localized in a defined area that may make sense, but the data shows that isn’t the case for all the states listed below.

Saturday morning coffee

bath time, bath tubI’m not a big fan of baths but even I can see the appeal of this. I can’t think of a more relaxing way to start a morning than slipping into that tub. Seems a shame that there isn’t a second cup there for someone to join him.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brainEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s brain teaser:
When performed, I am caught. With me, answers are sought. What am I?

Vintage gay

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. This week on Instagram: omgblog

Looking to inject some R-rated humor into your Instagram feed? Look no further than the OMGblog Instagram account, which I’m sure many of you are already familiar. If you like you can also check out the very popular, omg.blog.

I can’t think of an account that does a better job of posting what I’ll refer to as “gay humor” posts. The OMG blog posts on Instagram are provocative and sexual  but no more revealing or overt than anything you might see in mainstream magazines and blogs. However, the deviant nature of most posts are sure to make them stand out and in my opinion both fun and funny. Definitely worth the follow if you find yourself laughing at these two examples.
