TWC takeover of Boston Ballet Nutcracker

The Welcoming Committee Boston BalletHave you seen Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker?  Do you love a bargain? Then you are going to love the fact that  The Welcoming Committee (TWC) has secured tickets to the Nutcracker on Tuesday, December 9th.  They have 100 seats (first and second row – front balcony) that normally sell for ~$150 each.  TWC is selling them as part of their “Takeover the Nutcracker” for $68 each.

Tickets only last while seats remain available so quickly chat with friends or surprise your significant other with tickets to the show.  I’ve seen the performance, and I can assure you that if you are not yet in the holiday spirit this show will help get you there. The sets and choreography are aaaaaaahhhmazing.

Meet the author: Marc Solomon

TWCTen years ago Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage. And after the US Supreme Court’s landmark rulings in the summer of 2013 a tipping point had been reached; as of right now there are 32 states provide legal recognition and that number seems to be growing by the day.

Author and community organizer, Marc Solomon, who wrote, Winning Marriage: The Inside Story of How Same-Sex Couples Took on the Politicians and Pundits – and Won, has been invited by TWC to have a “Meet the Author”.

Boston’s Guerrilla Queer Bar celebrates 7 years at Tequila Rain

Guerrilla Queer Bar, The Welcoming Committee, TWCTomorrow, Friday, October 3rd Boston Guerrilla Queer Bar (GQB) will celebrate seven years in Boston.  Over time GQB’s popularity expanded beyond a one time a month take over of a straight bar or nightclub into the very popular LGBT social group, The Welcoming Committee (TWC), which is now also active in several other cities around the country.

Are you looking to connect with a friendly group?  Want to mix things up and make more friends who are open to going out, trying new places and possibly planning a weekend or two away? Boston’s very own The Welcoming Committee (TWC) has now expanded into Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. This Friday, TWC, will host their monthly, Guerrilla Queer Bar (GQB) event, where they take over a traditionally straight venue and fill it with members looking to have fun and share a few laughs.

Guys DrinkingReaders of this blog may be familiar with The Welcoming Committee, a LGBT social group, that organize fun evening out and ‘take-overs’ in and around Boston.  The group is mostly comprised of 20-30 somethings although those of us in the 40+ crowd have been known to also crash social events they have organized.  TWC (for short) recently expanded into Philadelphia and will soon be coming to Washington D.C.

TWC’s Newbie Party is tonight in Harvard Square

TWCAre you new to Boston or just in need of meeting some new people?  The Welcoming Committee is hosting their Newbie Party tonight from 6:30 to 9 pm at The Beat Hotel (13 Brattle St., Cambridge) in Harvard Square.  By the way, The Beat Hotel is a bar – not a hotel.  It is The Welcoming Committee not the come and sleep with me committee 🙂

These regularly hosted gatherings give you a chance to learn more about The Welcoming Committee, the activities they organize in and around Boston as well as a chance to socialize and connect with a group of fun and friendly people.  Curious but shy? The Welcoming Committee has arranged a take over of the Hasty Pudding Theater near Harvard Square and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to check out this program with tickets only $35 (while they last).  I’ve never been to see a production from this hallowed theatrical group.  Care to join Sergio and Me as we crash The Welcoming Committee Take Over?  More details about the production and buy your ticket(s) here.

Guerrilla Queer Bar Boston tonight

Guerrilla Queer BarLooking for something to do? Tonight (the first Friday of each month actually) is Guerrilla Queer Bar here in Boston; hosted by those crazy kids over at The Welcoming Committee.

This month the TWC will take over Jose McIntyre’s with an unofficial pre-game from 8-9:30 next door at The Granary Tavern.

Want to try something different or meet some new people? This is an excellent opportunity. The group is large, diverse and friendly.  If you’ve never attended before ask around if you can meet some of the “Corps Organizers”.
