Boston No Pants Subway Ride

No Pants Subway RideAfter a few hiccups trying to load this video from yesterday’s No Pants Subway Ride in Boston, the two minute video has now posted on YouTube.

Miss all the fun or perhaps you participated in this annual event; check out the video. If you didn’t participate in the event  this year, perhaps you will join me and the 500+ others next January for the No Pants Subway Ride in 2014.

Boston No Pants Subway Ride

Boston No Pants Subway RideFor the past few years I’ve participated in Boston’s No Pants Subway Ride, hosted by The Boston Society of Spontaneity, a volunteer-run, free to join, social arts & events group that plans a variety of programs in and around Boston.

This year my partner and I opted to give a nod to America’s most iconic, and ambiguously gay couple, Sesame Street’s – Ernie and Bert. While we couldn’t find underwear with these guys faces I think we were able to do the outfit justice. I had hoped to have a video of Sunday’s ride in Boston but my computer just wouldn’t seem to cooperate so I hope to have something to show you later this week.  Keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck because I did get some funny photos that I’d enjoy sharing.

About The No Pants Subway Ride: started in 2008 by the NYC based Improv Everywhere, it has now spread to more than 50 cities around the world.

Boston No Pants Subway Ride 2013

No Pants Subway RideA couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Boston’s No Pants Subway Ride was fast approaching.  With more than 50 cities in North America, Europe, South America, Asia and Australia hosting similar rides on Sunday, January 13th you may want to check out the details (or at least hop on your local subway on Sunday afternoon).  You can see if a city near you is participating by visiting the Improv Everywhere Global Page.

Last year Sergio and I had a superhero theme which proved to be popular.   If you see me this year, definitely come up and say hello.  We have traded in our superhero underoos for a different eye-catching theme for 2013.  For those who are not in Boston, I’ll be pulling together photographs from the event and posting them here on my blog following the ride.  You can watch my video from Boston’s 2012 No Pants Subway Ride here.

Boston Ninja Race

Just when I thought I’d heard of everything I stumbled upon a very interesting group called November Project™.  Apparently this social group of runners are the people behind Boston’s Ninja Race… You read that correctly.

NinjaWhat is the Boston Ninja Race?

This is an 8 mile night run on Wednesday, January 23rd at 9:00PM through Boston’s Charles River path and parks. Runners are required to dress in a ninja theme.  The registration site is hilarious declaring “Dull swords allowed. Snow ninjas allowed. Complaining about it being “cold” is not permitted at any time.

There is no cost to register and after the race, runners will gather at Crossroads Bar in the Back Bay.  Want to find out more and register for the run? Link here.

Trojan vibrator give away in Boston

Trojan VibrationsIn late October, Boston’s Mayor Menino made it clear that he was not impressed with Trojan’s decision to give away a few thousand “Trojan Vibrations” sex toys from their “Pleasure Carts” on City Hall Plaza.  Read more here.

Fortunately Trojan was not discouraged by the Mayor’s stonewalling and lack of enthusiasm, and they decided my neighborhood in the South End would be a fantastic alternate location.  Yesterday, Sergio and our friend Maxine joined thousands of others who came out to get their own intimate massager from Trojan.  Earlier this summer Trojan kicked off this tour in NYC.  I believe that Boston is the second city Trojan has visited. Like the Trojan Vibrations Facebook page to find out when / if Trojan will be coming to a city near you.

Starbucks pilots wireless charging in Boston

Starbucks rolled out free WiFi in all its stores two years ago. Now Starbucks has identified 17 locations around Boston for a “limited time in-store trial for wireless charging.”

According to Starbucks chief digital officer Adam Brotman, “We’re building the Powermat technology into some of the tabletops, just to get a sense for how our customers will react, compared to having to plug their mobile devices into the wall.

The first three stores where this technology is being installed are all in the Financial District: One Financial Center, 125 Summer Street, and 101 Federal Street.  Want to find out what other Starbucks  will have this technology installed?  Read the story in today’s Boston Globe here.
