Gay night in East Boston at Ecco Boston

Ecco Boston gay nightAs much as I love Boston, I realize you will never hear someone say “I love Boston’s nightlife”.  My fair city’s nightlife ranks right up there (or should I say down there) with our weather. That doesn’t mean Boston lacks great bars, but it does mean you may have to go and hunt for them on occasion.  Keeping that in mind, I was pleasantly surprised to learn each Sunday night Ecco Restaurant and Martini Bar in East Boston gets a friendly gay crowd who sip martinis and chat with friends and acquaintances.  Who would’ve thunk it? East Boston?

Apparently there is a group on Facebook for anyone living in or near East Boston, that you may want to “like” (I did) to  keep you posted on updates like when the GLBT community in that neighborhood congregate to sip martinis.

Fenway Men’s Event tonight

Mens EventLater tonight I’ll be dusting off my tuxedo as Sergio and I make ready to attend the annual fund raiser for Fenway Health Clinic – The Men’s Event. The Fenway as most refer to it here in Boston is one of the largest most comprehensive clinics focused on GLBT health issues in the country.

I’ve often jokingly referred to this annual event as the “gay prom” but it does serve an important purpose to help The Fenway raise unrestricted dollars to help fund research and programs that are important to our community here in Boston and beyond. I’ve included a video from last year’s party to share a bit of what is in store tonight.

Fur and Gold at The Alley tonight

Fur and GoldTonight marks the three year anniversary of Fur & Gold at Boston’s gay bar, The Alley Bar, in Pi Alley near Downtown Crossing. For the past few years, the second Friday of each month has been designated “Fur and Gold” night.  The evening attracts a friendly gay crowd that varies depending on the month, but with the three year anniversary planned for this month, I’m assuming you may want to check it out and stop by for a drink.  More about Fur And Gold hereThe Alley Boston

Furry Friday

Aussiebum FurAs a general rule I am not a fan of a mustache, but there are exceptions and this Aussiebum model in his wet tank top can do absolutely no wrong.  Maybe its the fact that he has monster shoulders and such a handsome profile. I’m shallow.

RunnahAm I trying to encourage you to get up and be more physical as a follow up from my personal fitness post yesterday? Am I looking for a thinly veiled excuse to post this handsome, young, sweaty guy? Who’s to say. I hope I got your attention though and thank you for visiting my blog today. Have a good one.

Ben Cohen says Reebok dropped Gareth Thomas because he came out

Gay RugbyBen Cohen, a rugby world cup champion and founder of The Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation, made news this past weekend speaking at a debate at Britain’s National Student Pride when he said Reebok dropped rugby star Gareth Thomas for being gay.

Whether this is true or not is hard to say, but I have a feeling it won’t be the last time we hear these type of allegations.  Recently, there has been a lot of discussion about why there are not any homosexual athletes in America’s major sports leagues.  I chalk up the fact that the only reason we find out about gay athletes after they retire is due to homophobia.  If there is truth to Ben Cohen’s comments about Reebok’s decision to drop a prominent and popular rugby athlete because he came out, I find that troubling.  You may read more about Ben Cohen’s comments about Reebok and Gareth Thomas here.

Date night

I love the Avenue Q / Logo TV commercials that are running right now. Have you happened to see this one?

Furry FridayWhen I look at this photo all I can think is “I wish I had chest hair like this.” I suppose having a rock solid body and a great smile doesn’t really hurt either.

Obama to file pro-gay marriage brief

same sex marriageAccording to AmericaBlog, NBC News is reporting that President Obama will file an amicus brief today in the Proposition 8 (Prop 8) marriage equality case that is being heard by the Supreme Court at the end of March.

The brief must be filed by end of day  to meet today’s deadline and came as a surprise since the administration has been somewhat evasive on the issue up until this moment.

John Aravosis explains the details of the political wrangling over whether to submit the brief far better than I could. If interested in reading more visit his blog, AmericaBlog.

Wicked GawjusThe weather in Boston today is miserable. Its blustery outside and there is a steady drizzle. This is the kind of weather that I imagine inspires authors, but it does absolutely nothing for me.  In an attempt to brighten my day (and hopefully yours) I’ve included this photo of this handsome hunk.

Amazon goes gay

Amazon KindleWell that might be a bit of an overstatement, but the gay twist that Amazon includes in their new advertisement to promote the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite appropriately entitled “Husbands” is cute and catchy.

You may watch the quick advertisement below if you’ve not seen it yet.

Special thanks to Izzoiz.com for sharing.
