Ptown on the 4th of July

Ptown chroniclesIt has been a couple of years since Sergio and I have spent the 4th of July holiday in Provincetown, but I have very happy memories of all the craziness that transpires.  For all of you in Provincetown for the holiday week I hope you are having fun and I look forward to hearing your stories when you come back.

Obama greeted with cheers by Canadian Parliament

I know that not everyone feels this way, but I wholeheartedly agree with the Canadian Parliament who cheered President Obama with a standing ovation while chanting “Four more years!” I would gladly vote for Obama again.

This video must make everyone at FOX News physically ill to see Obama so loved. It certainly doesn’t gel with their view that we’ve lost influence among our friends and allies. You can see Obama’s full address on Joe My God.

HBO’s Looking

LGBT, GLBT, drama

Murray Bartlett, Lauren Weedman, Raúl Castillo, Jonathan Groff, and Frankie J. Alvarez in Looking: The Movie (2016)

One month from today on Saturday, July 23rd HBO will air a long anticipated finale to the short lived gay drama, Looking.

In the movie trailer, Patrick returns to San Francisco to attend a friend’s wedding after having moved away. When he sees his former boyfriends old feelings emerge and the closure he thought he had now doesn’t seem so clear. Earlier this week HBO released the trailer, and it made the rounds on many gay blogs, but if you’ve yet to see it, check it out here.

More information on the series here, www.hbo.com/looking.

Donkey Show at the Oberon

TheaterAre you looking for something fun to do next weekend? Join The Welcoming Committee when they head back to the Oberon Theater for a takeover of The Donkey Show.

Unfamiliar with The Donkey Show? It is a disco adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and is a long-running glitter-filled show hosted at the Oberon Theater in Harvard Square.  The show is an absolute blast. Sergio and I joined TWC back in 2013 and I still smile when I think about all the fun we had. Oberon Theater Donkey ShowThis annual TWC event always sells out so take advantage of their  limited number of discounted tickets ($5 off the public price). For more information about the program and how to get your discounted tickets, visit TWC’s event page, Donkey Show Takeover.

Wicked funny: Zachary Quinto performs Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On”

I admit that I’m a Zachary Quinto fan and I’m a Missy Elliot fan so there was no way I wasn’t going to post this video of Quinto putting it on the line in his lip sync battle where he performs “Get Ur Freak On”. I hope it brings a smile to your face as well.

Have a great Saturday night

Donovan Livingston: Lift Off

Harvard Graduation Speech Called 'The Most Powerful' EVERDonovan Livingston, a master’s candidate at Harvard University, was selected to speak at the school’s convocation this past Wednesday. After he performed his poem titled “Lift Off,” Donovan Livingston’s speech went viral. It is one of the most inspiring poems I’ve ever heard and wanted to share with you.

Our stories are the ladders that make it easier to touch the stars…The sky is not the limit it is only the beginning.

PSA: A bathroom break at Kinky Boots

Kinky Boots Bathroom BreakI know that for many of you this video has been showing up on your news feed on Facebook, but I love this cheeky P.S.A. “A Bathroom Break” from Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein with the cast of Kinky Boots.

Here’s to hoping that we can put this foolish discussion behind us. I like to point out there have been more Republican politicians arrested for predatory behavior in bathrooms than the entire transgender community. So to paraphrase one of my favorite lines from Joan Rivers “Oh, Grow Up”.

Justin Timberlake: Can’t Stop The Feeling

Justin Timberlake Cant Stop This FeelingWhile everyone is still talking about the latest release by Beyoncé, Lemonade, earlier this week Mr. Timberlake released a fun new music video for his song Can’t Stop The Feeling, a celebration of shaking off your troubles and busting a move; a perfect song to get ready to on a Saturday evening.

The Bear-Naked Chef returns

Madrid, Spain, cookingIt has been three months since The Bear-Naked Chef (a.k.a. Adrian De Berardinis) last cooked for us. A few weeks ago Adrian shared a teaser video of him in Madrid, Spain, promising to return soon with new recipes and yesterday he did just that. Adrian’s first recipe, “Albóndigas En Salsa Española” perhaps better known to my readers as, Meatballs in Spanish Sauce, looks delicious.

While the recipe does call for a number of ingredients, it does appear to come together fairly easily and looks like something I could easily whip up (although I’ll probably forgo the Spanish saffron) and add extra parsley.

Look delicious? Want to try the recipe? You can access this and previous recipes from Adrian’s website.

Louis Boniface and Olivier Pierre video: Headway

Louis Boniface, Olivier Pierre

Much thanks to Brenton for sharing this video (see below) on his Aussielicious blog last week. After watching it I thought I would post it on my blog too because it is spectacularly shot and really quite beautiful; the perfect way to spend a few minutes as you wind down on a Sunday and get ready for work tomorrow.

Louis Boniface, Olivier Pierre

According to Brenton’s blog post, the video was a creative collaboration and experiment between the gymnast and slackline expert Louis Boniface and classical violinist Olivier Pierre. The project was art directed by Nicolas Romieu.

If you like this sort of thing you can follow Louis Boniface on YouTube, here.

BosGuy brain teaser

Drunk Riddles BosGuy Brain TeaserEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to exercise your brain.  This week I thought I’d mix things up a bit by sharing this video.  Aiden and Gil have been drinking and swear a bit as they play Drunk Riddles, where they try to figure out three different riddles (all of which I’ve asked in previous posts).

Play along with Aiden and Gil and see if you can guess the answers.
