2012 Boston Pride Weekend (recap)

Last week at this time the gay community in Boston was ready to enjoy the final weekend of Pride 2012. After a week of rain and cool temperatures, weather was beautiful all weekend long.  Here is a video of some of the events and parties we attended last weekend.

Cazwell “Rice and Beans”

Massachusetts native, Cazwell, is back with another outrageous music video full of innuendo and barely clothed men writhing suggestively.  Its proven to be a potent combination for this gay singer who first caught my attention in the summer of 2010 with a very similar gay club hit, Meet Me at the Ice Cream Truck.

This video is probably not appropriate to play if at work.

ILGA: Gay rights around the world

gay rightsEach year The ILGA produces maps on Gay and Lesbian rights in the world as well as its State Sponsored Homophobia report.

Share this with friends, most of their materials are available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. This year the world map as shown above has been also produced in Chinese, German, Hindi and Turkish.

The organization also provides maps that focus on specific regions of the world including Asia, Africa, Latin America and The Caribbean.   You can learn more about this organization and download a copy of the map and report by visiting their website www.ilga.org.

Broadway Bares XXII: Happy Endings

Broadway CaresLater this week on Sunday, June 17th Broadway Bares XXII: Happy Endings will take place at the Roseland Ballroom, with two shows 9:30PM and Midnight.  This annual show and gala raises money for Broadway Cares: Equity Fight AIDS. This year’s show is inspired by fairy tales but perhaps a bit more naughty than you may recall.

For those who were not fortunate enough to get tickets, I thought I’d include the teaser video that was created.  Enjoy the eye candy.

My crazy partner

Work has brought me into New York City for a couple of days.  My lunatic of a boyfriend emailed me this video of himself to make me laugh and remember to call him.  I thought I’d upload it to YouTube so everyone could see my crazy partner; and by the way  I called him – definitely.

The Harvard Baseball team video that inspired his cute message

The difference between 29 and 31

This video is most definitely not safe for work (NSFW), but it is incredibly funny.  For year’s I’ve always said it never ceases to amaze me how many self confident, attractive women seem to snap after they turn 30.  This video seems to perfectly illustrate the point. Thanks for sharing little brother.

The Bourne Legacy opens August 3, 2012

Bourne Legacy

Years ago when I was in high school and college I read the Bourne Trilogy by Robert Ludlum and I loved the books. Despite my squeamish nature that shies away from violence, I love the suspense and story lines of a good espionage novel.

It looks like Hollywood is not ready to say good bye to this series which has raked in hundreds of millions of dollars and in August a new Bourne movie called The Bourne Legacy will open in theaters.

The strange part of this story line is that Jason Bourne will not be in the movie – well at least not the “Jason Bourne”. Apparently we learn that Operation Treadstone had other, maybe many “Jason Bournes”.  I loved the books and I thought Matt Damon played the lead character superbly, but this one has me wondering if it is worth seeing.  Check out the Bourne Legacy trailer and decide for yourself.

Madonna / Gaga Redux

I love this Lady Gaga vs. Madonna mash up which is on YouTube now. You’ll recognize other mixes although David Guetta’s mix of When Love Takes Over is probably the most prevalent and does the mash up justice.

Madonna fans by now will have seen the leaked video which shows her concert rehearsals  in Israel including a similar mash up of Born This Way and Express Yourself.  It is now Friday afternoon on the East Coast and early evening in Europe so crank up the volume and let this video put you in a good mood to start your weekend.

Attitude magazine “Naked Issue”

Attitude Magazine‘s notorious “Naked Issue” is now out, and gracing the cover is none other than the retired and openly gay rugby player, Gareth Thomas. If you Google Gareth Thomas + Naked Issue you can see a bit more of Gareth than appropriate for my pg-13 rated blog.

This issue from Attitude Magazine is used to help raise awareness of the U.K.’s National AIDS Trust HIV testing campaign and in light of my posts this week regarding AIDS Walk Boston, I thought the timing couldn’t be better.

I was unable to find any “behind the scenes” videos from this year’s shoot so here is a quick video of the UK Pop Band, Blue, being photographed for the 2011 “Naked Issue”.

James Bond: Skyfall

Daniel Craig returns as James Bond 007 in Skyfall.  In the forthcoming film, Bond’s loyalty to M played by Dame Judi Dench is tested as her past comes back to haunt her.  When MI6 comes under attack, Bond must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Pam Ann flies into Boston Thursday, June 7th

BostonPam Ann, the flight attendant alter-ego of Australian comedienne Caroline Reid, lands in Boston during Pride week on Thursday, June 7th  for one show only.  If you cannot attend the Boston show, Pam Ann touches down in Provincetown for one show only on Sunday, July 1st.

Boston show: Thursday, June 7th      Provincetown show: Sunday, July 1st

Tickets recently went on sale for Pam Ann’s Around the World tour so get them while they last.  Let’s grab a drink at intermission if you will be attending the Boston show.

Fans make better music videos

music televisionI’m seriously dating myself, but I remember when MTV was new and launched careers of some of the biggest acts in the 1980s.  Fast forward to today and MTV is a shell of its former self. YouTube is the new MTV.

With all the big budgets, wardrobe, choreographers, directors and producers it amazes me how boring the official music videos are by comparison to the unofficial videos created by fans.

Recently I’ve posted different music videos from Harvard University’s Men’s Baseball team, the models of Randy Blue and the Broadway cast of Anything Goes.  Let me know if you find these entertaining or if you feel like its old news by the time I post these.

Beer vending machine in Boston

Arnold Worldwide, a creative agency in Boston, created a unique beer vending machine in their headquarters appropriately named “Arnie”.   Check out the quick video below which explains all the bells and whistles. Back when I was working in an office environment, I would have loved to have had an Arnie in our office kitchen.

Mitt Romney: Beautiful liar

BosGuyBack in the 90s when Mitt Romney was campaigning against Senator Kennedy, he portrayed himself as a moderate Republican who would be an advocate for LGBT issues.

Bay Windows Mitt Romney Interview 1994

Looking at Mitt Romney’s actions since 1994, I would have to draw the exact opposite conclusion so I thought I’d dedicate this song to Mitt.

Broadway’s Anything Goes cast spoofs “What Makes You Beautiful”

The cast and crew of Broadway’s ANYTHING GOES did a great job hamming it up on screen (no surprise there).  The real surprise is that the cast made the sickeningly sweet pop melody What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction bearable.
