BosGuy humor

I know its bad form to laugh at someone else misfortune, but I blame my cruel sense of humor on my family. We all seem to chuckle when we see someone fall, trip or get hurt.  As I’ve grown older, I’ve learned to check my emotions so people do not see my diabolical sense of humor.

When my sister shared this video clip after our Thanksgiving meal, I nearly doubled over laughing. If you share the same perverse sense of humor check out the clip of this unfortunate FOX News correspondent from Atlanta. The real humor kicks in around the 50 second mark, but watch the full clip.

Madonna sings acapella

OMG, I love this video of Madonna. If you are a fan you’ll want to watch this. Thank you to Kevin over at The Lisp for bringing this to my attention.

Lady Gaga – Teeth official music video

Gaga ups the gay quotient in this homoerotic music video for her song Teeth.

Did you see this little girl on Ellen?

Your Man: Free app for early detection of breast cancer

My friend David over at WGB posted this video which serves as both a public service announcement and a bit of eye candy / comic relief.  The video is a reminder that breast cancer is a serious subject and by following the videos guidelines TLC  (Touch, Look & Check) women can help with early detection.

The video goes one step further promoting a fun app you can download on your iPhone (an app for Android phones will be available starting next week) to help remind you to do this sort of thing on a regular basis.  Check out the gratuitous male booty and the cute role-call that follows the visually engaging video.

You can download the “Your Man” iPhone app here.

Hump day: Alanis Morissette

Although you may wish today was Friday, my calendar assures me that it is only Wednesday… A.K.A. “Hump Day”. So I thought I’d think a little outside the box and share this video of Alanis Morissette spoofing the Black Eyed Peas song “My Humps”.  If you’ve never seen the video, I hope you find it funny.  This is my lame attempt to interject some humor into the week.

The Bangles perform in Boston tonight

Okay, so technically I’m a day late and its more like a Traumatic Tuesday, but that wasn’t a song by The Bangles who are performing in Boston tonight.

Although I’m not going to see the show, I have no shortage of fond memories of this 80s girl band, who I first saw perform at the Orpheum in Boston back in <gulp> 1985. I’m not sure if tickets to see their show at the Wilbur are still available, but you can get more information here.

Shameful

This quick video from the Democratic National Committee is a firm reminder of how perverse the Republican Party and those who seek that party’s nomination have become.

I understand there are many who vote Republican simply based on a perception that the money they earn will be taxed less, but the political posturing of these candidates and behavior exemplified by attendees at these debates is shameful.

Considering many Republicans speak in terms of “Christian” values and the lack of them in our society today, there seems to be a wide gap between the lip service paid and the actions they exhibit. Frankly, I find it embarrassing and shameful. However, if you are consumed in the pursuit of the Almighty Dollar and firmly believe “What’s mine is mine and to the hell with the rest of you”, such behavior shouldn’t be so surprising.

Thanks to WGB for bringing this to my attention.

Red Bull Cliff Diving comes to Boston

Perhaps Red Bull really does give you wings…

The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series came to Boston on Saturday, August 20th. The tour had made stops in Chile, Mexico, Greece, France and Italy before coming to Boston. The final stop on the Red Bull tour is in Yalta, Ukraine next month, but today Boston was all about diving.

One thing I absolutely love about Boston is that this town embraces sports of all kinds and this extreme sport which had some of the world’s best cliff divers jumping from over 90 feet (nearly 30 meters) attracted a HUGE crowd today in the Seaport District. To add to the drama, divers used the cantilever roof of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) building on Fan Pier.

2011 Ptown Carnival Parade

The 2011 Provincetown Carnival Parade theme this year was “Can’t Stop the Music”. Commercial Street started to become a wall of spectators as individuals dressed up for this year’s celebration. The parade was great this year, but if you were not able to attend here is a quick 3-minute video to show you what you missed.

AC360 Ridiculist: Gerard Depardieu

Proof that no matter how mature, all men find potty humor funny. Even the suave Anderson Cooper cannot contain himself with his potty-mouth double entendre.

NYC Underwear Run

Fellow blogger over at DanNation included a write-up about NYC’s 1.7 mile “Underwear Run”, which took place last week (August 5th) in Central Park. The run drew a bit more than 500 participants. You can read his posting, here and you can check out the YT video from this year’s event here.

However, I have to say it seems pretty lame that there were only 500 runners. C’mon NYC, where is your sense of adventure? Boston’s annual Santa Speedo Run in December (which is capped at 500) sells out in minutes.

An underwear run in Central Park in August actually sounds delightful. I’d even do the run if I lived in NYC. I hope next year a few more of you will check your modesty at the door and participate in what looks like a very fun run.

Here’s the video from the 2010 Boston Santa Speedo Run.

Google, Matthew Epstein wants you to hire him

Its no secret that a lot of very talented people are currently looking for work. It also doesn’t take a rocket scientist for people to recognize that half the game is being able to differentiate yourself from others. However, there is a very fine line between thinking outside-the-box and creatively identifying ways to get the attention of a potential employer.

Matthew Epstein appears to understands how to walk that fine line with his website http://www.googlepleasehire.me/ and video. Together I think they are equal parts genious and hilarious. Tailored perfectly to Google’s quirky personality but professional enough to warrant a closer look, it appears that Matthew’s request for “one phone call and 15 minutes” of Google’s time has paid off (sort of). Google did contact Matthew but asked him to go through the standard hiring process, which apparently he’s fine with doing.

Who knows how this might end, but I’m cheering on Matthew and the millions of others out there right now looking for work.

Thanks Tim for sharing this with me.

DASOUL underwear

One of the unintended consequences of having a blog is that a lot of advertiser and PR people flood your inbox promoting their products and services. I generally ignore these requests and choose not to have advertisers on my blog. However, today I received an email from the people at DASOUL.

According to the email, DASOUL creates an imaginative, yet classic new perspective in the men’s underwear market. I’m not really sure what that means exactly, but then they threw in some images of their models and a link to a promo video. I dunno, but something about sexy guys flexing for the camera wearing nothing but underwear totally appeals to me (there’s a reason I add #ImShallow to the end of many of my tweets).

Maybe this sort of thing does nothing for you, but it was just the visual stimulation I was looking for to get me through the last bit of my day today.

As some of my previous posts have shown (i.e. Zipcar Low-Car Diet SWAG), I do love free stuff so if DASOUL would like to send me some of their product to try out, I’d be very appreciative. I can’t compete with the gorgeous male models they have but I’ll include a picture of the merchandise on my blog should it arrive.
