The dreaded New York Yankees open their 2013 baseball season playing the blessed but often misunderstood Red Sox in New York City this afternoon. Both teams are saddled with a lot of baggage, but fans from both cities will no doubt be filled with hope.

This is one of those holidays that had a lot of meaning for me when I was a kid but now is just a good excuse to eat a lot of food with family. Do you celebrate Easter? What will you be doing?

In just over a month Boston’s popular bacon and beer festival will take place (Saturday May 4th) at the House of Blues in Fenway. Proceeds will go to support the hunger relief organizations Lovin’ Spoonfuls and Community Servings.

Here are three photographs of one of Boston’s oldest commercial buildings taken at different times in the last century. This building was built in the early 1700s and eventually became the headquarters of Ticknor & Fields, the publisher of the first editions of The Scarlet Letter, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Walden. But most Bostonians know and refer to this building as The Old Corner Bookstore or the Globe Corner Bookstore even though it is currently a Chipotle.
This tweet was making the rounds yesterday. In just 140 characters Will Ferrell has touched upon two current issues of social justice (not to mention common sense) that are near and dear to me. Wish he had thrown in a reference to the death penalty – could’ve scored the ever elusive #HumorHattrick.
