Varla Jean Merman comes to Club Cafe
This fall Varla Jean Merman has taken her popular summer show in Provincetown, Little Prick, on tour. She is currently wrapping up a successful tour on the West Coast and will be coming to Boston to perform for two nights at Club Cafe on Friday and Saturday, November 19th & 20th.

I really love this photo of a dapper gay couple from the 1920s. While I don’t know who they are, the photo is included in a 2019 article posted by the History Channel called, “How Gay Culture Blossomed During the Roaring Twenties” I highly recommend you check out the article if you’re a fan of this weekly post and gay culture / history in general. It is an easy 5-10 minute read full of information including how (and where) drag started and how for a brief window in time gay men and women had a degree of freedom in a few major cities before the start of the Great Depression and WWII.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. The day-long retreat will be led by Chuck Raffoni ( E-RYT200) who has been featured on NBC’s TODAY SHOW for teaching yoga to men. The intent is to bring men together for a day of yoga, mindfulness and meditation. Together, attendees will explore how these practices can enhance their lives by helping them deal with stress, aging, body image, sexuality and better relate and support each other.
If you are able to lay and sit on the floor comfortably for extended periods, can get yourself up off the floor without assistance, and do not have any injuries that a doctor has told you to avoid exercise, you will be able to participate in this retreat.
