It Can’t Be August Yet by Matt Albiani
When I was growing up I spent a lot of time with my cousins but as we’ve grown older we’ve gone our separate ways and rarely see each other. However, I still love and care about my family, so I was impressed when his boyfriend posted this brief video that my cousin, Matt Albiani, created. It appears to be based off of a poem he wrote back in 1996.
Check out the video above then leave a comment and like it. 🙂
IT CAN’T BE AUGUST YET, CAN IT?
I DON’T KNOW – I JUST WOKE UP AND LOST TRACK OF TIME.
BUT THE DOOR IS OPEN. AND SO IS THE WINDOW
WHERE I STAND, LEAN OUT
AND LET THE SUN ON MY SHOULDERS
NOW BROWN AND FRECKLED.
FROM HERE.
I CAN SEE BLUE WATER THROUGH THE TREES
AND WHITE CANVAS SAILS THAT TAKE ME AWAY
TO THE ISLAND ON THE LAKE
WHERE THE SKY IS ALWAYS CLEAR
AND SEPTEMBER NEVER COMES
-matt albiani
Men in kilts
Although he doesn’t know it, I think of this guy as a future ex-boyfriend of mine.
What to do this week: August 27 – Sept 2
Despite the warm weather in Boston, Labor Day Weekend is typically the end of summer here in New England. As we head into this weekend beware of the dubious Boston “holiday” referred to as Allston Christmas, as tens of thousands of people move out of apartments and make ready to move into new apartments with a September 1 lease.
To take your mind off the chaos surrounding many neighborhoods due to the mass moving of students and residents alike check out one or more of these events and parties taking place this weekend and get yourself to the beach assuming the weather cooperates.

The Revolution is the South End’s next boutique hotel
A new boutique hotel called The Revolution will be opening just a block away from The Alise Boston (formerly The Chandler Inn) on Berkeley Street in the South End. The local property company, Mount Vernon Company, announced they will turn the home of the former YWCA property at 40 Berkeley Street into a 164-room boutique hotel, which will be managed by Provenance Hotels.
The Mount Vernon Company initially purchased the property in 2014 but left it alone until construction started earlier this spring. The interior will be decorated with paintings by Boston artists, overlaid with the titles of songs by Boston music legends such as Aerosmith and Donna Summer.
The hotel will offer studio suites for business travelers, as well as triple and quad rooms with shared bathrooms for larger groups. “Premium King” accommodations will also be available with ensuite bathrooms with rooms starting at approximately $150 a night.
The property’s large courtyard is being redesigned to house an indoor-outdoor restaurant with the basement converted into a bar that will double as co-working space during the day. Stay tuned for more details.
