Weekend jitters

humorI saw this photo on Twitter and couldn’t help but laugh. I’m dedicating this post to everyone who makes an effort to go out this weekend and meet someone organically; without the aid of a ‘dating app’ or some prior screening.

Go out with a couple of friends, grab a few drinks then head out to the dance floor and smile at everyone you meet.

BosGuy brain teaser

riddle, exercise for your brain

Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together. I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

The R-rated riddles I’ve been sharing lately have been really popular so I’m going to continue the streak with adult-ish-themed word game this week.

This week’s brain teaser:  What’s beautiful and natural, but gets prickly if it isn’t trimmed regularly?

Vintage gay

In honor of Bear Week currently underway in Provincetown, I wanted to post this photo which claims to be of Mr. Mordecai Higginbotham (seated). I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of this man nor could I find anything conclusive online, but I do love this photo. His friend reminds me of a young Teddy Roosevelt so I’m going to assume this was taken at the end of the 19th century. WDYT?

I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price. Do you have a photo you would like to share? One week from today The Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) will once again host their annual production of a William Shakespeare play on the Boston Common. Opening night will be Wednesday, July 18th and performances will run through Sunday, August 5th. Performances take place Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm; Sundays at 7pm; with a 3pm matinee performance on Saturday, August 5th.

FREE and open to the public

csc, commonwealth shakespeare company, boston theater, bosartsThe image above shows the location of the theater production on the Boston Common. I suggest arriving early to ensure you can be within sight of the stage. When I attend, I like to make a quick stop at the Roche Bros in Downtown Crossing to stock up on snacks and drinks – food is available on the Common but options are somewhat limited.

Need a quick overview of this Machiavellian monarch Shakespeare dedicates an entire play to? Here is a quick recap of Richard III (as told by Shakespeare).

HUBweek 2018 passes now available

HUBweek (October 8-14) is a festival for the future that celebrates innovation  in art, science and technology. HUBweek will kick off with events taking place all across the city, but will be centered on Boston’s City Hall Plaza, which will be transformed (once again) into a mini village of semi-permanent structures.

Join thought leaders like Medford-native Michael Bloomberg, Malcolm Gladwell, Deepak Chopra, Atul Gawande and more; connect with 100+ of Boston’s most impactful start-ups; and interact with Boston’s creative economy and those who are helping rethink Boston’s future.

Many events are free but do fill up. There are also events that require ticket purchases, but there is an “early bird special” running through July 24th.
