Weekend in San Juan
Today is our last day full day at La Concha Resort in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The long weekend in the sun has been more relaxing than I would have guessed. It will be a sad return to Boston when we board our plane on Sunday to go home.
Just in case anyone is wondering, unfortunately, this guy was not staying at our resort.

Why you need to come out to your doctor
Back in 2011 I wrote a post Many LGBT patients feel alienated by their health providers. It was based on a Boston Globe article that reported many LGBT patients did not feel like they could have honest conversations with their doctors. For many who are Out and live in cities like Boston this may seem strange. We benefit from living in a progressive city and have access to places like Fenway Health, but for many who are not Out or do not have access to a LGBT clinic, this is a real problem.
US News & World Report wrote an interesting article, How to Come Out to Your Doctor as an LGBT Patient, explaining why it is important: the type of preventative care you should receive – esp if you are sexually active; questions you may want to ask your doctor; and most importantly for those who are not out to their health care providers – how to start the conversation.
Hola Puerto Rico
Sergio and I are heading to San Juan for a few days in the sun. While Boston may not have been hit as hard as DC, Philadelphia and NYC we did get way more than the 3″ of snow predicted and we are looking forward to trading our coats and gloves for flip flops and swimsuits.
Sergio and I have been visiting Puerto Rico for several years and it never disappoints. I’m sure I’ll be snapping photos and posting them on my Twitter and Instagram accounts. Below are a few photos of some of the men who added to the natural beauty that surrounded us on past trips.
8th Annual Chocolate Festival
If you love chocolate then you need to get yourself to Harvard Square this weekend. Arrive on the early side for The Chocolate Festival’s free tasting on Saturday, 1-2PM on Brattle Plaza (in front of Crema Café at 27 Brattle Street) for chocolate treats from many of Harvard Square’s finest purveyors including Ben & Jerry’s, Cabot Candy, Crema Café, J.P. Licks and Toscano to name a few.

Calling all artists: Boston wants you to live here
Last week Boston Mayor Marty Walsh in his state of the city speech said he was going to fund three arts-related programs that would have a combined budget of $1 million. The programs are intended to do the following: 1-provide direct grants to individual artists; 2-help expand the city’s fledgling artist-in-residence program; and 3-establish an artist resource desk at City Hall, to help local artists.
To help support local artists $400,000 in direct artist grants will be available to artists living in Boston. According to The Boston Globe, the Walsh administration has yet to work out the details, but the funds will be unrestricted and likely available to individual artists.

Leslie-Lohman Museum presents: Medium of Desire
Are you heading to New York City in the coming weeks or months? You may want to check out the Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in SoHo.
Their current exhibit is Photography is the Medium of Desire: An International Anthology of Photography and Video. The exhibit opened last month and runs through March 16, 2016. For more information about the Leslie-Lohman Museum and their current exhibit visit their website www.leslielohman.org.
