Renan was the young man who captained the boat we rented in Paraty, Brazil earlier this month. He was very friendly and like many Brazilians quite happy to pose for the camera.
Regular blog readers may recognize him, because I posted another photo of him last week here.
With Christmas little more than a week away we are now receiving a handful of holiday cards each day from friends and family. We’ve yet to receive any of those ‘awkward Christmas’ photos but I keep hoping. Feel free to check out this collection of awkward Christmas photographs here.
Atop the Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro is the city’s most famous site, a 125′ statue named “Christ the Redeemer”. While there are several ways to get to the top of this granite mountain, the most popular is to buy tickets and take the electrically powered train. Although I’ve been to the Corcovado a few times already I don’t get tired of the impressive view.

On Saturday hundreds of men and women braved crazy cold conditions in Boston to run in the 14th annual Santa Speedo Run. Happy holidays and Merry Christmas to everyone. Much thanks to everyone who posed and shared their photographs.

Last Friday few friends and I decided to try out the Boston Ballet Adult Open Classes as a way to get in some exercise away from the gym and of course, to become a little more cultured at the same time.
To be completely honest, I was a little nervous before the class. All I could think about was my lack of coordination and non existent flexibility. I know its hard to believe, but this big guy has not an ounce of rhythm in his body.
Much to my surprise, the class turned out to be a lot of fun and extremely relaxing. Everyone was very nice and the instructor gave me a lot of attention and helped me with my form. I would recommend trying a class to anyone looking for an alternative activity. Bring along a few friends, it is great for the mind and body, and makes for a fun evening. Classes start at $17 and you can sign up at the Boston Ballet School or online here.

When I checked into my room at the Ibis Savassi Hotel in Belo Horizonte Brazil I found this note near my bed. I didn’t recall the amenities list for Ibis including prophylactics. It made me wonder what kind of public uproar would exist in the US if such a municipal law existed here.
