4th of July in Provincetown

ProvincetownLast week I was joined by tens of thousands of men who spent their 4th of July holiday and weekend in Provincetown. The weather was incredibly hot, making Ptown the perfect place to be.  The beaches, pools and pretty much everywhere was packed but all seemed to have fun – I know I did.  Enjoy the quick video below and much thanks to everyone who posed.

Saturday starts yet another huge theme week, Bear Week, in Provincetown.  If you are going – have a blast.

Special thanks to The Crown and Anchor for providing passes to check out all the parties they hosted through the week.

Just because

handsome guyEnjoy this gratuitous post of Fur & Leather or as my buddy over at WGB would say “Just Because”.

Justin Utley playing Provincetown’s Crown and Anchor

Justin UtleyNext week, on Thursday, July 18th the ever so hunky Justin Utley will be performing one show during Bear Week in Provincetown at The Crown and Anchor.

Not familiar with Justin? I first wrote about him in early 2012 back when each Monday I posted my  “Men of Twitter“.

I’ve also included below a video clip of Justin’s song “It Is What It Is“.  If you like what you hear and want to hear more, you may purchase tickets (provided they are still available) online here.

Free Shakespeare on The Common

BostonThe Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) free production of William Shakespeare’s play, The Two Gentlemen of Verona, started this past weekend and runs through July 28th.

Free performances run from July 6 – 28

For details about performances: www.commshakes.org/performances

About The Two Gentlemen of Verona Believed to have been written in 1590 or 1591, this comedy is considered by some to be William Shakespeare’s first play. The play deals with the themes of friendship and infidelity, the conflict between friendship and love, and the foolish behavior of people in love.  More about the play may be read here.

Boston ranked one of America’s snobbiest cities

SnobbyI place no credence in unscientific surveys, but I do find them a lot of fun to read so of course I enjoyed Travel and Leisure’s recent survey that found Boston the third snobbiest city in the US.

Placing Boston after San Francisco (ranked the snobbiest city in America) and New York City, the magazine said visitors may “detect a certain air of superiority”.  Oy vey, that can be so true! Fortunately, I’ve found a great group of friends who don’t take themselves too seriously and are warm and friendly.  My hunch is there is a direct correlation to the wealth of a city and the “snob” level of a city.

You can see the full list of “Snobby Cities” here.

Dewey Square mural to be replaced in August

boston public artStarting next month the Os Gemos mural in Dewey Square will come down. Initially put up in July of 2012, the mural is now  withering and fading so officials have decided it’s time for something new.

Charlie McCabe, director of public programs for the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy, said to Boston Magazine last month,“We are looking to either remove it or replace it sometime in the fall…We are hoping to announce what the new project on the structure will be by August.”

Stay tuned for more details to follow…
