Hopefully the caption I’ve shared below inspires you to offer up a caption or two of your own. Leave a witty or funny caption as a comment for this post, and I’ll approve it for readers to enjoy.
I am hoping for some creative posts for this week’s “caption this photo” of Norwegian police – who by the way look nothing like Boston cops.
This past weekend I asked Sergio to cut my hair – a first in our 21 year+ relationship. I will admit I was nervous about asking him to give me a trim but my last haircut had been in mid March and after 8+ weeks I was overdue to put it mildly. I tweeted out the middle photo (below) on Sunday, which resulted in a lot of likes and more than a few comments asking to see an after photo so I wanted to share Sergio’s good work. I feel like a million bucks.
I still can’t get over the barely there facial hair after 8 weeks of no shaving! So glad it is gone and that little experiment is finally done. While I love facial hair on other guys, I’m just not genetically wired to grow it. Below are a are a couple of photos from Sergio trimming my hair this weekend. Thank you Sergio!
Here is another throwback to several years ago when my buddy was showing off his kilt. I believe this photo was taken in Tennessee at his boyfriend’s place.
This morning’s post of Wesley Wallace is thanks to Lyne B. is a long time reader who suggested Wesley as a potential Furry Friday. After looking through his playful Instagram account, I saw photos that would work for virtually all of my weekly posts, but I thought I’d feature him here today to get everyone’s day and work week off to a great start. Thank you Lyne for the suggestion.
Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage 16 years ago today. Today, same-sex marriage is legal in all states.
Massachusetts Chief Justice Margaret Marshall’s excerpt (above) from the landmark case is worth sharing to celebrate both the victory for equality and to remind us how much progress has been made in such a short span of time.
Stella Boston in the South End announced on its social media pages this past Friday that the restaurant would close later that night. Stella has been a fixture in the South End for 15 years.
However much I’ll miss their menu, it was the bar scene that always brought me back. The bartenders who worked there made that place fun. Some of my favorite memories include squeezing past all the out-of-town diners crushed into the tiny front bar and crowding the entrance, waiting for their table. Sergio and I would make a beeline to the much less crowded back bar where April was holding court. I also loved my Sunday afternoons with Matt pouring drinks – making Sunday truly a fun day. Adam, Alejandro, Jen, Lucia — the list of fun, engaging bartenders is long and over the years Stella attracted equally colorful regulars who added an even more interesting dynamic. Stella will be missed.
I want to wish everyone who worked at Stella (now and in the past) a big thank you for so many happy memories and tasty cocktails.
Thi s guy is 100% adorabble. I would love to spend a leisurely Saturday morning drinking coffee and reading the paper together, althoough I would find him probably too distracting to remember anything I read.

Each Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain. If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.
I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away. I want to give everyone a chance to guess.
This week’s brain teaser:
I go around in circles,
But always straight ahead
Never complain,
No matter where I am led.
Although museums in Boston remain closed, The Isabella Stewart Gardner exhibition “Boston’s Apollo: Thomas McKeller and John Singer Sargent” has been so well received by New York Times co-chief art critic, Holland Cotter, I thought I’d check it out and share it with those of you who love art and in particular are craving something deeper than the “flavor of the week” with Netflix programming.
The small show centers on a rather sensational painting and the unlikely relationship between the artist and his muse, Thomas Eugene McKeller (1890-1962). McKeller was a bellhop and elevator attendant at Boston’s deluxe Hotel Vendome, where Sargent often stayed, and one of the many beautiful men he hired as studio models. Interestingly, Cotter points out that McKeller may have been the only African-American to model for Sargent.
I’m sure nudes of an African American man drawn by a world famous American painter would have seemed outrageous at the time. But what is even more amazing was how McKeller was / is the face of many other famous paintings by Sargent, which until recently nobody knew. It makes me wonder if there was more to the relationship than meets the eye – McKeller certainly was special to be singled out by the artist. For more information, read the NYT article, that initially caught my attention.
Much thanks to Peter Miller for sending me this photo for my weekly post. According to his email, the person on the left is identified as Thaddeus Purce followed by A. A. Lunt on the right and date back to the early 1900s.
I dedicate this weekly post, featuring vintage gay photographs, to the men and women who lived in a more critical time where being true to yourself and loving who you want wasn’t always an option and came at a great price.
