Jennifer Hudson’s “I Still Love You”

I know this video is making the rounds on all the gay blogs but I can’t think of a better video to share on a Saturday evening.  I’m sure I’ll be hearing this played quite a bit in Provincetown this summer.

Weekend in Albany, NY

Albany DuckThis weekend Sergio and I are visiting friends in Albany, NY.  This is a photo of me visiting last summer and provided the weather cooperates this is how I plan to spend today as well so pardon me if I’m slow to respond to emails, questions and comments.  We are busy contemplating our next cocktail, getting ready to grill outside and get caught up with our friends in Albany, NY.

Below is the home that I jokingly refer to as “Tara” which our friends purchased, gut and restored with painstaking care and effort.  The end result is a beautiful home with a gorgeous yard.  We try to come out and visit once in the summer and again in the early autumn. Marco and Michael are the perfect hosts.

Pastr the dating app for closeted clergy and family men

pastr dating site for closeted clergyIts humor is rooted in the sad truth that many of the most outspoken religious leaders who have railed against homosexuality are often later found on gay “dating” app sites.  Wouldn’t this just be more convenient for everyone?

BosGuy brain teaser

brain teaser, rodin, riddleEach Friday morning I post a riddle to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.

If you are stumped, share it with a friend or colleague and see if you can figure out the answer together.

I’ll confirm answers in the afternoon so don’t worry if you don’t see your comment posted right away.

I want to give everyone a chance to guess.

This week’s riddle:

I adore you, but I push you away.
I stand still, but my head spins and sways.
What am I?

Hillary Clinton wants to make voting more accessible and easier in the United States

Hillary ClintonIn a speech in earlier today, Hillary Clinton, called for federal legislation that would automatically register all Americans over the age of 18 and would mandate at least 20 days of early voting ahead of elections.

Hillary Clinton’s rally cry championing voting rights stands in stark contrast to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker; former Florida governor Jeb Bush; and former Texas governor Rick Perry who all championed and signed into law legislation that restricted voting rights and disproportionately impacted poor and minorities, making it harder for them to vote in elections.

It looks like Hillary wants to have a national dialog on voting rights in the US. This isn’t exactly surprising since there is a direct correlation between higher voter turn out and Democrats winning elections, but it is refreshing and something I welcome hearing more about in the general election.

Godfrey Hotel Boston to open in DTX this fall

Godfrey Hotel BostonThe Godfrey Hotel is set to open in Boston later this fall after a $23 million renovation of the dilapidated Blake and adjoining Amory Building (built in 1904 / 1908 respectively).  The new hotel at 505 Washington Street is sandwiched between the up and coming DTX neighborhood and the lively Theater District. The building’s ground floor will be home to a George Howell Coffee shop and the adjacent six-story Amory building will house a restaurant that is yet to be named.

Gay travelers will be happy to know that the hotel is steps from theaters, restaurants, and parks.  It is also a quick ride to the the BHC high speed Provincetown fast ferry and close to several gay / gay friendly bars.

The “lifestyle” hotel will be Boston’s newest independent property and will feature 242 guest rooms.  As the fall approaches look for more information about this new hotel property.  You can also visit their website at godfreyhotelboston.com.

Below are some photos of what the rooms will look like.

To PrEP or not to PrEP (that is the question)

Fenway Health ClinicFenway Health has an interesting infographic about HIV prevention efforts with PrEP that I thought I would share with you.  If you would like to learn more about PrEP visit Fenway Health’s What is PrEP? website.

This is not for everyone  but before you make a decision one way or another, educate yourself and talk with your medical provider to find out if PrEP is right for you.
