You might think that this is obvious, but the reality is many people convince themselves that they really want something only to realize that once they achieve that goal, buy that product, marry that person of their dreams, etc… it isn’t what they want, like, or love.
Take a page out of my friend Jesse’s book and find out what you are really passionate about and love. Everything else will work itself out – I promise.
I’ll admit it – I’m pandering. But I’d like everyone to know two things: first, I’ve never really had a thing for cowboys – even as a kid I was always cheering for the indians so it is clearly my appreciation for photography that is why I wanted to share this picture; and second, I’ve had this photo for evah… I mean DOMA hadn’t even been repealed so I think I’ve shown incredible restraint all things considered.
Back in 2009 Bertolli pasta teamed up with Logo Films and released this gay-themed commercial. In light of recent remarks from Guido Barilla, CEO of Barilla pasta – a.k.a. Dick of the Week, this video from rival pasta company, Bertolli, is resurfacing on the web and starting to go viral.

CEO of Barilla Pasta has caused a bit of controversy with remarks that indicate his disapproval of homosexuality. In response to a public outcry that started in Italy and thanks to social media has traveled around the world, the firm recently issued the following statement, “I apologize if my words generated misunderstandings or arguments, or if they offended the sensibilities of some people.”
The apology is appreciated but is clearly just a PR statement. I’m assuming that his pasta will soon be appearing on the Chick-fil-A menu and Sarah Palin will be running down for a photo op. What cozy company this dick of the week will keep. Unimpressed and want to express your frustration?

Dan Aykroyd is appearing at Boston’s gay bar, Machine, for their drag show tonight. I’m trying to be polite and refrain from making any sarcastic comments so I’ll just say, if you’d like to see Mr. Aykroyd or maybe you want to witness this sh*t show, head over to Machine tonight.

Oklahoma has become the fourth state to deny processing benefits for same-sex military couples; the state joins those other bastions of progress and intellect (I jest): Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana.
Military couples in those states can still apply for such rights on federal military bases but that is not necessarily feasible in some of these states that are quite large . This begs the question since when do Governors of certain states get to ignore Federal law? The answer is apparently when you are a bigot and find it convenient to appeal to your homophobic base. I suppose it goes without saying that the Governors of these four states are all Republicans.
Are you a fan of the movies? Do you like LGBT themed films? Four will present its Boston premiere on Thursday, September 26th at 7:30PM at the AMC Loews Boston Commonif enough people express interest in the film.

Love Art. Fight AIDS
ARTcetera may be my all-time favorite GLBT fundraiser in Boston. This event draws art lovers and enthusiasts as well as many artists who donate their work for auction to raise money for the AIDS Action Committee of MA. The event is hosted every other year but it went dark for a couple of years while AIDS Action rethought the event and in 2011 ARTcetera was relaunched. This event raises money for GLAD; not to be confused with GLAAD. The Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders have been fighting for and advancing GLBT civil liberties since it was founded in the late 1970s. This year’s recipient of GLAD’s Spirit of Justice award will be Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall. The sitting Chief Justice who presided over the landmark Goodridge decision that was the first to rule (10 years ago) same sex marriage was legal and must be recognized. One of the GLBT’s largest fundraisers in Boston each year is the HRC dinner gala, this year hosted on Saturday, November 9th.
