Sesame Street still going strong

zac-efronWhat do Halle Berry, Zac Efron, David Beckham and Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor all have in common?  They will all guest star on the 43rd season of Sesame Street.  You can see the full list of stars who are all joining Bird, Ernie, Bert and the cast later this fall by linking here.

I cannot think of a longer running show that has more appeal than Sesame Street.  Nearly everyone who is anyone in American pop culture and beyond has joined this children’s show at one point in their career.

Do you remember watching Sesame Street?  My favorite character was (no surprise) The Cookie Monster.

Teen bride Courtney Stodden gets “couples therapy”

Last summer I posted a video clip from AC 360 when Anderson Cooper featured the 16 year old bride, Courtney Stodden, who was marrying 51 year old actor, Doug Hutchison, in my post Must be love.

TMZ reports, … Stodden — who married Hutchison when she was 16 — has signed on to the upcoming season of VH1′s Couples Therapy. Sources connected to production tell us .. the couple has acknowledged there are “obvious problems in their relationship because of their age difference and the notoriety they’ve gotten because of their relationship.” Courtney and Doug — along with 4 other couples — will receive “intense counseling” throughout the course of the show … which began taping a few days ago.

This is just another example of how manufactured the veiled homophobic arguments are from Conservatives and religious elements in the US who oppose same sex marriage.  There isn’t even a peep from these supposedly “pro-marriage” groups about Stodden’s marriage and the thousands of others that take place each year merely to gain notoriety and make a mockery of the institution they supposedly cherish.

CONTREX strip commercial

This is completely safe for work and worth the watch. Wish more advertisers were this playful with their advertising.

Jason Biggs unreleased “Magic Mike” audition

Here is a leaked video of Jason Biggs auditioning for the role of Dallas for the movie Magic Mike.  Matthew McConaughey ultimately landed the role, which might be for the best if you check out Biggs’ moves at the 3:00minute mark when he starts his dancing.

Note that the clip has profanity and isn’t safe to view at work.  Not sure how long this will remain so enjoy while it lasts.

Armistead Maupin in Provincetown

Tales of the CityArmistead Maupin is the author of nine novels, but he is best known as the writer of the Tales of the City series, which was eventually turned into a miniseries starring Olympia Dukakis and Laura Linney.  This series first aired on PBS in 1994 and was the first time I can recall seeing a story line that included viable gay characters.

Armistead Maupin was in Provincetown last week at The Crown & Anchor where he shared anecdotes about his life and writing. After the program concluded Sergio bumped into Maupin, and I couldn’t resist posting the photo. Did you read Maupin’s Tales of the City series?

Super Superheroes

gay super heroesFellow blogger Stevie from Nice to see StevieB posted this photo on Sunday.  Not exactly sure where or when this was taken but I thought it was hilarious. Which superhero would you most likely be?

Azealia Banks: 212 featuring Lazy Jay

Everywhere I turn, I feel as if I hear people talking about Azealia Banks.  She definitely has a catchy delivery and I can’t get the shouting / rapping style unique to her out of my head.

Are you a fan of Azealia Banks?  If you’re not familiar with her, be warned the lyrics aren’t appropriate for children or in a place of business.

Clueless – 17th Anniversary

Alicia SilverstoneEarlier this week I read July 19th marks the 17th anniversary of the release of the movie Clueless, which stared Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy and Paul Rudd (among others).  The movie also included a cameo by Boston musician and lead singer of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dicky Barrett.

It could be a sign of how shallow or perhaps how “clueless” I am that I love this movie.  Looking at the cast, I can’t believe Brittany Murphy has passed. She was brilliant as the East Coast transplant just trying to fit in with the cool kids and crushing on Elton.

One of my favorite lines of all time was when the uptight Amber says to the gym instructor, “My plastic surgeon doesn’t want me doing any activity where balls fly at my nose.”  And Cher’s BFF, Amber, says without missing a beat, “Well, there goes your social life.

US Airforce: Sexy and I know it

This video which was posted on YouTube this past fall totally passed me by. How did I miss this? It makes the song so much less annoying when I can watch these handsome young men.

Apparently the video was created to pump up the Air Force football team before they played Army, but was deemed “too inappropriate”.  I will admit the video gets a whole lot more entertaining after the 1 minute mark as they dance around in their boxers and little else.

Playboy South Africa Video

I sometimes wonder if any heterosexual men read my blog.  For those who stop by on occasion, thank you.  This post is for you.

4th of July celebration in Boston

Despite the fact that Boston is a relatively small city, we happen to have one of the largest 4th of July celebrations in the nation and the program will be televised later tonight on CBS.

4th of julyThis year’s headline artist is Jennifer Hudson, and the emcee will be Massachusetts native, Michael Chiklis.

The event starts early in the day for those who want to stake out space along Boston’s beautiful Esplanade Park so they can watch and listen to the concert in person.

You can find out more about the event at www.july4th.org.

Philip Defranco: Oreo controversy

I’m sure by now you’ve seen the rainbow Oreo cookie picture and perhaps you’ve even heard about the ridiculous backlash from the Evangelicals and Christian Conservatives in the US.

Yesterday’s Philip DeFranco Show on YouTube pretty much summed up my feelings about this too.

It’s a f*cking cookie guys!?! Chill

You can watch the entire broadcast or just listen to the bit about “Oreo-gate” since he leads with the story.

Natasha Leggero

I was watching Jay Leno’s Tonight Show and couldn’t believe how funny Natasha was.  I also couldn’t believe how much she resembled a young Susana Hoffs (lead singer of the 80s gal band, The Bangles).

Not familiar with Natasha Leggero? Here is a video of her explaining why hip hop music drives her crazy. I kind of agree.

Joe Manganiello

If you are gay look closely at the photograph below. There are actually three people in this photograph.  I only saw Joe Manganiello. Really, when you look below, can you blame me?
