It’s Monday morning and I’m in need of a smile, but none are to be found so I thought I’d add this song from the Happy Mondays to get me going.
Hallelujah – 1989
The SoWa Open Market and the Farmer’s Market which opened this spring officially closed today at 4PM.
The market which draws thousands each weekend will take a hiatus during the winter months and be back in the spring of 2013. I’ll miss having this just outside my condo and look forward to its return in May 2013.
The Boston Ballet Fall Program opened this past Thursday. Described as a powerhouse trio of contemporary works featuring three visionary choreographers, including Christopher Bruce’s Rooster, William Forsythe’s The Second Detail, and a world premiere by Boston Ballet’s Resident Choreographer, Jorma Elo.
The Fall Program opened with “Rooster”, which I saw when it premiered at The Boston Ballet in Play with Fire last spring. Eight songs by The Rolling Stones danced to by 10 ballet dancers will capture your attention I promise you. Despite having seen this last spring I could watch this again and again and I think you will feel the same too.
The following performance “Awake Only” is decidedly more dreamy. The dancers are slightly upstaged in my opinion by the unexpected and exceedingly cute young student from the Boston Ballet School, Liam Lurker. You will be taken by his boyish exuberance at performing on such a large stage.
The Boston Ballet Fall Program closes with the more energetic “The Second Detail”. This includes more than a dozen dancers on stage, and I loved the energy and commanding nature of this performance. I was constantly trying to keep up with watching everything happening.
All told, the Fall Program was a fun night and one I think more people would enjoy if they gave The Boston Ballet a chance. Make a night of it. The performance starts at 7:30 and concludes at 10. Tickets are less expensive than you might think so act quickly since the Fall Program only runs through November 4 at The Boston Opera House.
David – Boston, MA supports Marriage Equality
Last month I wrote about The Seattle Times “I do” social media campaign supporting the Marriage Equality referendum on their ballot in November. To show my support, each day this week I will post photos of people posing with The Seattle Times “I do” sign.
Will you speak out and show your support?
If you would like me to post a picture of you, please download this PDF, take a picture with this sign, and email it to: BosGuymail@gmail.com.

Last week I flew down to NYC for a business meeting and as is often the case, I found myself flipping through the Delta Sky Mall catalog while waiting to take off.
I thought I’d pair these two options from the SkyMall catalog since I assume the guy who would wear this “One of a Kind Shirt” that sells for $69.99 probably would like the table lamp from the hilarious “A Christmas Story” for $199.99. While I can appreciate the nostalgia of the holiday classic, the point of the lamp was it was ridiculously ugly, but then again so are those shirts so perhaps they do belong together. Honorable Mentions for “Who the heck is buying this stuff” go to:
The Do-It Yourself Log Maker So you want a cozy fire but don’t have money to burn. These cool paper log makers are a cost-effective solution to buying firewood (not cheap these days!) – Is the economy really that bad?
PlungeMax Eliminates an unpleasant problem in the home in a simple way. No-mess plunger clears toilet clogs in a quick, sanitary, splash-free way without messing with a standard plunger – Did I mention this is in the Holiday edition catalog?
This video is just as interesting without the volume in my opinion but for those looking to increase their gay vocabulary you can listen to this Blue Bear’s riff.

Earlier this week following a report in The Boston Globe, several national LGBT organizations slammed Governor Romney for his decision to reject new birth certificates for gay parents when he was serving as governor.
This may be news to those around the country but I do not suffer from that interesting condition Obama keeps referring to while campaigning called Romnesia. I remember all too well the “my way or the highway” mentality; his complete lack of interest in supporting education and any social programs.
So I was not surprised to read The Boston Globe story on Thursday which started, It seemed like a minor adjustment. To comply with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling that legalized gay marriage in 2003, the state Registry of Vital Records and Statistics said it needed to revise its birth certificate forms. Instead of just “father,’’ the new forms would feature a box labeled “father or second parent,’’ reflecting the new law of the land. But to then-Governor Mitt Romney, who opposed permitting gay married couples to raise children, the proposed change was a glaring symbol of the decline of the traditional definition of family. He rejected the Registry of Vital Records plan and insisted that his top legal staff individually review the circumstances of every birth to same-sex parents.
And should candidate Romney get elected you shouldn’t be surprised either. While Romney may actually believe he cares about everyone, his definition of “everyone” doesn’t really include those who are different from him. Don’t believe me? Ask a resident in Massachusetts. There is a reason Obama is leading Romney here by 20 points. Romney could go down as the first modern candidate to win a Presidential election but lose his home state; let alone lose it by a landslide.
Are you heading out this weekend to get Halloween candy? If you visit your local Target go into their costume aisle and see if you can find the “Coco Peru” look alike wig they are apparently selling.
Ms. Coco Peru recently released a video of her shopping excursion at her local Target (in West Hollywood) to see if she could find the infamous wig. If you’re a fan of hers you’ll enjoy this clip from Coco.
About a week ago onerebeldevil (on Twittah) posted this funny photo and was nice enough to share it with me. All I can think is there is a gay advertising executive with a wicked sense of humor.
What started as a single photo (shown above) to show my support for the Washington State ballot initiative that would legalize same sex marriage in Washington State has grown into a daily post on my blog.
I’d like to continue to promote this post up til Election Day in early November. If you are so inclined to show your support, I’d like to ask that you email me a picture of you holding the “I do” sign and email it to me. How do you do this you inquire?
2) Snap a photo of you holding the sign
3) Email it to me (include your home city), BosGuymail@gmail.com

Thanks for sharing this photo Brian Moynihan. I assume he must have seen it over at WGB. For the record, I agree, he’s gawjus.
The Boston Ballet 2012-2013 season starts tonight with The Fall Program, a trio of contemporary works to be presented October 25 – November 4 at The Boston Opera House.
The program features three visionary choreographers, including Christopher Bruce’s Rooster, William Forsythe’s The Second Detail, and a world premiere by Boston Ballet’s Resident Choreographer, Jorma Elo.
I’ll be attending opening night and can hardly wait. If you have not been to the ballet before (or perhaps it has been awhile), consider The Fall Program that runs for little more than a week. Purchase tickets here.
The Mario Testino show In Your Face at the MFA Boston includes 122 photographs. Have you already seen this show which premiered at Boston’ Museum of Fine Arts this past weekend and will run through February 3rd?
This show would seem to be a “Must See” for fashionistas and pop culture enthusiasts. What an amazing opportunity; no schlepping to the MoMA in MidTown, NYC like you had to see the Alexander McQueen show. More about this show at the MFA here.
