Burgers and Beers at 5 Napkin Burger in Back Bay

5 Napkin Burger Sam Adams Dinner

Left to Right: BosGuy, Jill Farver (Sam Adams Rep) and Ben Reedy

5 Napkin Burger started their second season of the Beer and Bourbon Dinner Series with Sam Adams last Tuesday, and yours truly along with my buddy Ben Reedy attended. The Sam Adams rep, Jill Farver, did a great job explaining the pairing of the four Sam Adams beers. My favorite was Sam Adams White Water IPA, a relatively new beer that had hints of apricot and nicely complemented the heat of the passed hors d’oeuvres (of which there were many – so arrive early).

Hats off to the 5 Napkin Burger staff for making the dinner so pleasant; tending to individual requests with ease and serving up some delicious nosh that left me stuffed; especially after I finished their barbecue cheese burger served – shown below with Sam Adams New World Tripel.

BosGuy brain teaser

Each Friday morning I post a riddle or brain teaser.  The idea is to get you to think outside the box and exercise your brain.

Share this with friends or coworkers if you cannot figure out the answer.

Post your answers in the comments section and I’ll confirm the correct responses after lunch to give everyone a fair chance.

This week’s brainteaser:  There is a single word that goes with each of the three words listed below that will form a compound word (or word pair that functions as a compound word).  Share your answer.BosGuy Riddle

South End restaurant gossip

Rumors suggest we can expect The Aquitaine Group’s, Cinquecento, to open to the public on Monday, November 12th.

Cinquecento has had more than its share of rumors regarding opening so its understandable to be circumspect, but I’m marking the date in my calendar.  While the restaurant will be new, much of the staff are Gaslight alum, including: Chris Robins in the kitchen and Eric Hogan and Sarah Pope on the floor.

Buona fortuna Cinquecento!

National Coming Out Day

This post is dedicated to the millions of men & women who cannot be true to themselves and live the life they deserve because of political and religious pressures that tell them they are wrong.

No matter how comfortable you try to make it – it is still a closet and you deserve so much more.  To quote Dan Savage, It gets better

I’ve chosen to use today to reflect upon how my life changed after I chose to come out.  My reasons for staying in the closet were many but mostly due to a feeling of deep and abiding shame perpetuated by my religious affiliation, how I saw homosexuality portrayed on television and addressed by religious and political leaders and lastly a sense of isolation that is hard to imagine in this age.

What changed? I got fed up and the isolation I felt melted away. Not everyone’s story is as positive as mine and there are places in the world where one must remain closeted for one’s own safety.  For those men and women, I dedicate this post as a sign that hopefully the changes underway here in the US will ripple out and help kick down the closet door.  Want to read more about National Coming Out Day?  America Blog has a great article here.

Sean Patrick Davey

Sean Patrick Davey:  My latest obsession

Sean Patrick Davey is originally from Minneapolis but now calls NYC home.  His stats read as follows: 6’4″, red hair, hazel eyes, 204lbs. Photos of Sean regularly grace gay blogs so I figured I was overdue and should come forward to admit I’m completely obsessed with this handsome Midwesterner.

If you too find yourself smitten there is a blog you’ll love >> link here.

Lesson of the day
